The new, official website for Avatar is being launched by Lightstorm today!

Just in time for the grand opening of Disney's Pandora - The World of Avatar, the new site will start out small, but will be growing rapidly over the next weeks and months as new and more content is added. The site is centered around the Pandoran Research Foundation and is interactive. Go check it out!  http://avatar.com

An announcement is also being added to the main page of LearnNavi.org.

06/08/2017 EDIT: OK, ma eylan, Lightstorm Entertainment is asking for feedback from the Avatar fan community about the new site. What do you like about it? What needs to be different? What do you think needs more attention?  Please bear in mind that the avatar.com introduction is just the beginning of a large, multi-interest website for Avatar. It is tiny right now with technical nits and oddities that will go away as things mature, but it will become larger and more capable as time goes on.  If you have any feedback you would like to communicate to LEI, please send to me at [email protected] and I will forward to the appropriate folks.  Irayo!   -Markì

They have their captcha settings turned up so high that I have been unable to register. I will try again later from home.

Otherwise, a way cool site!

They also have the Na'vi wrong on the greeting message. 'We see you' is ayoel ngati kameie

Yeah, Tim is right. :-\ I fear we will see that more and more. For us loving the language, seeing it 'mis-used' like that will be bitter pill to swallow.

Otherwise it really looks amazing.

Vawmataw

Where is that greeting message? So far 99% of the text is in English.

The site asks for your date of birth before letting you in. (Why, I do not know.) When you answer, the site replies Oel ngati kameie - "We see you". Most folks know the correct Na'vi there would be Ayoel ngati kameie.

I also had multiple registration completion emails waiting for me when I got home from work. So, the captcha problem is unusual.

How that website works? Whatever I click in menu, I still see white page. Does it mean I must register first? (Firefox 53 here. Tested also in IE11 - there it works...)

Meh! Seems that AdBlock blocks also useful content.

The site has some strange little idiosyncrasies (There's a word we need in Na'vi!). They seem to have the security cranked up uber-high.

I haven't looked at every page on the new site, but I'm pleasantly struck by this one: Take Only What You Need.

There seem to be new clan names in this article

Tayrangi ~ coastal clan
Olangi ~ direhorse clan of the plains

And a usage of Ikran Makto.

I assume that they are official.

Sìltsana tìkangkem ma Lightstorm!!!! Oeru sunu tsatsenge nìtxan :)

Really the site is great, and the little live video feed thing is a very nice touch, love the links to the different Avatar attractions websites, one thing about the video link, is maybe down the line they can make the atokirina' drift in and out of the shot rather than appearing then fading out, but again that is a very minor detail :) Irayo nitxan ma Lightstorm for the great site you have made for the fans, now and future of Pandora!!!!!!!!!

This site does not work for me and my not-so-old browser.
Apart from that (tested from different browser) it's fairly good. Content are great and valuable but IMHO to much animations and js are used here.
Any errors in spelling, tact or fact are transmission errors.

Hey Ertew, which browser are you having trouble with for it?

FF 25 - only 2y old browser.
IMHO only several versions (I think two?) back are supported. FF 25 is too old from this viewpoint.

I wasn't aware of the 'live' video feed (tough to do over 4 LY ;) ). I checked it out. The atokirina come and go like characters in an avant garde movie. I saw realistic motion only for a few seconds at a time. I saw motion in the forest, but only once did I clearly see what made it-- a yerik. I am not sure whether or not the poor performance is due to my internet connection (here at work, it is a very good connection) or the rendering capability of my typical 'office' PC. I'll take a look at this at home (where I will have more time to explore as well), where I have a poorer internet connection, but significantly more computer horsepower. All that said, I like this feature, and properly engineered, it could engage a person for extended periods of time.

The strangest thing about the site is having to enter your birthday every time you enter, whether you are logged in or not. I've tried playing with the dates a little, and entered the site as a 12 year old. I did not see anything different when I did this.
