Just because I see the "Non-Avatar Cosplay" forum is a bit hmm... dead? I thought I will post here my current project.

This is a full Space Marine Holy Power Armour made with the cardboard/fiberglass&resin method. It's just printing and glueing an paper model than covering it with resin and fiberglass cloth. Unfortunately the process is a bit mundane so that's just a work in progress.

Soooo... Enough talk, here are the photos:

And one with my underscaled backpack. Another one is being glued right now:

Ha ha don't worry, it's not dead, it was just created yesturday. xD

That armour is very cool. What material are you using?

How does a man choose between fresh and fly?

Necrons FTW!!

Also, this is so awesome, are you using a guide or making it up as you go along? id LOVE to make something like this for big game uk paintball next year :D

Memnonic

Sorry, but guard ain't better xD When they lose morale, they scream "every men for himself!", but a stone-cold marine calmly informs "squad broken" :P

Yup, there's a guide. Visit www.405th.com for more info on this armormaking method ;p But this thingy would be too heavy to be used in paintball games ;p

Space marine = boring
guard = hilarious

and also they get bonus points because they are NOT genetically engineered super soldiers or brutal aliens or even equipped with the best guns.

no it is men with their rifles... Out gunned, out numbered and beset on all fronts. And yet they still hold

Memnonic

yup. and they are food for the guns ;p their only duty is to DIE FOR THE GOD EMPEROR!

you seen the new hellguns? ruin space marines AP3! :D
(although they are on the same team but still... oh yeah never play a kill team match against a nutter with guard like me.... I fitted in the 200pt list with no heavy support or HQ an ordinance template, 2 flamers and a blast template....  :D)
Only mostly AWOL.

omg pure awesomeness!
you must teach me the art of armor making for my next project:

KOS-MOS V.3

I would love to put Leds inside the armor parts, that would be awesome!!!
But, im still a rookie when it comes to armor making.... dreams are shattered.....

Memnonic

Oh girl, that's one, damn detailed armour. But, since it's more like a suit it won't be much armormaking (but that doesn't mean that parts you have to do will be easy).

For the most of the suit I would use well, latex fabric, like one seen on cheap leather imitating clothes. That design seems to be a lot of sewing, considering that you will probably have to sew plates and bodysuit together.

And for the plates, I would go for about 1.5mm sheet plastic formed with heat. I don't know how will it work with transparent PVC for the parts where you want LED's. I mean that sure, PVC will form in heat, but I don't know if it won't become kind of white instead of transparent. You have to check it out by yourself.

All in all for this armour I wouldn't reccomend using the "resin&fiberglass" method like the one with my armor. Reason is simple as hell - it would be too heavy. I'm using that one only because I need my armor to be hard, heavy and endure, so it will be usable for kind of show-off dueling - you know what I mean, two Space Marines fighting a duel with powerswords in the middle of the street, or something like that.

Hope that you've been able to figure something out of this post. Sorry for not-so-logical one, I know it's kinda gibberish but I'm really tired right now, its 3:30 AM here, in Poland! xD IDK what I'm doing here at THIS time :p

Time to go sleep, see ya!

I made that one all on my own, its the same character just a different version. I used posterboard for this one, but the next one i would like to use plexiglas or Wonderflex. I am an experiensed sewer, i just dont know how to work with the plexiglas. -_____-

Memnonic

Plexiglas and sheet plastic should be heat treated and then formed. After a couple of minutes in hot oven they should be bending like thick rubber. You will have to experiment with time, because it depends on the power of oven and thickness of material, but while heating remember, that sheet can't be melted so much, that it bends under its own weight.

After you get this nice, heated sheet of plastic you can bend it right in hands or on some kind of object which shape you need. That's the whole philosophy.
