I've been very much into Star Wars for six years now, so when "Star Wars: The Exhibition" (which had previously been to London, Tokyo, Brussels, and later went to Madrid, etc.), came to my little town, Örnsköldsvik, in northern Sweden, I went :o x10.

I began working on a costume in september 2007, more than nine months before the Exhibition, and was done with it just a few days before the premiere. The headbands I was lucky and found the very same day as the VIP-premiere, where I was invited.

I worked on it in school (pretty much the only thing I did in school that year), with help from my teacher (very much an amateur when it cames to costumes), and when it came to the thousands of beads, some of the other students.

Too bad, not many people recognized Padmé, almost everyone thought I was "Princess Leia".
(As if Leia would ever wear anything black. :P)

The skirt consists of one layer of gray silk, and two layers of different kinds of lace. The skirt was a PITA, because the top layer of lace was elastic, which the other two layers were not.
The feather cape consists of more than a thousand feathers sewn onto a thin, black fabric, with a band of black velvet at the top.

The "necklace" is also of black velvet, with nine different strands of beads hanging from it. It took me about two weeks just to figure out in what order all the beads are supposed to be. The lower half of the velvet band hanging from the "collar" are just thin bands (each about one centimeter wide), while the upper half is "solid".

Too bad, several of the four twisted bead strands are now broken and have to be repaired. :(
They are made out of copper thread, while the five others are made from nylon thread.

Great dress. I can see why it took so much work, but it seems it was worth it ;)

Woah, that is very good!  The people of Theed would be proud. ::) ;D

Oh my god, that's just totally GORGEOUS! :) Your dress really looks like the original. :3 Too bad people didn't recognize it was Padmé.. I don't understand how they can't remember, because all of Amidala's clothing is very distinctive and Padmé-ish! :o
