People XD but I think that some alternative energy source, like a solar panel or something, would be cool, if we could get a hold of some ^_^

A long time ago in our dark beginings I said I can rig a generator for a wind mill or water mill

solar is getting a lot cheaper than it used to be so it may be a possibility.

but its easyer to fix a generator

Yeah, ok lets get a generator.
Oh wait...that's right...wouldn't we need fuel?

Now where are we gonna get that?

Also, a computer isn't going to do jack without a power source and the internet.

I'm sorry to be rude but this isn't summer camp, this tribe is permanent, and the only way it will stay permanent is if we don't weaken ourselves with items. If somebody is weak, they will struggle, plain and simple.

Read completely through this topic just to see if you still have that opinion after wards.

Before reading that topic, I would have almost agreed with you (but still disagreed). But after reading it, I do feel that we need to add a little (and I mean a LITTLE) bit of the "summer camp" elements to the tribe. I swear, I'm not wussing out here. I want to do this with as little as possible. But lets make sure this IS possible first!

Besides, we'll need a computer to stay somewhat connected to the rest of the world. I don't want to become ignorant of the rest of the world, even if I am in the middle of nowhere.

I have read that, but the use of generators and water purifiers completely kills the point of a hunter gatherer life style. But if you need something based on fact I will offer a few such things.

1) Generators are loud, they will scare animals away, good luck hunting.
2) Generators use fuel, where are we going to get that?
3) Computers will be completely useless for obvious reasons.
4)I support food but in the form of emergency rations only, to be used when a person is on the verge of starvation only.
5) Where in the hell are we going to get a defib and who knows how to use one?

generators? no.
communication devices? one.

That's my opinion.
I'm starting to watch this tribe slowly turn into an Eco-village because newer people are trying to make themselves more comfortable. This is an idea for people like me who are done being comfortable, and who want to experience something phenomenal in life, an experience that can not be obtained anywhere else, perfect commencilism with mother earth. If you want to have your worldly conventions we will have a summer camp for that. But this here, as even the original poster has once stated in his own topic, is a hunter/gatherer society that we a recreating. I will not have anything poison my dream of us, a group of aysawtute, becoming 'eveng errtayä through harmony with her.

I will state this here and let it be known those who try to modernize our ideals are not considered committed in my eyes.

Forgive me for the bitter post but i do not want to see another one of my dreams die.

New people have as much right to voice their opinion as the vets of the board (which you and I are not as of yet. There are MANY who were here well before us ;D).

Anyways, back on topic, I agree with no generator. I'd go along the lines of Solar Panel. And yeah, just the one computer connected to the internet.

No, no generator. That's taking it too far.

But we do need a little power for our only connection to the rest of the world.

as a vet of this tribe ( as 'Itan Atxur said) generator would be a big no go for the reasons stated.

we would definately need a satelite phone for outside world contact but for power all you really need is a fire. it gives of light and heat and is carbon neutral. a laptop could be a good idea but i would say no to it cause if we have a computer people are just going to use it for stuff which we dont want and internet connection will be a right pain in teh arse.

medical supplies big yes. antivenoms, painkillers??, alcohol(for sterilisation), bandages etc

water purification tablets bring them but we shouldnt need them if we get near a source of running water cause it shouldnt have too many bacteria in.

tools is the biggest thing we will need just bring every thing. nails, saws (all types) no electricaly run ones though, screwdrivers, etc etc

and other stuff to bring i would say... wood, bow staves in particular, because until we know where we are going we dont know what sort of wood is in the immidate area so bring yew, elm, osage orange any wood that can be used really.

For interwebs we need a satelite connection, which is rather expensive. and as to do with power, solar is still say more expensive than water/wind mill

I don't see why we need power anyways...

in reality we dont need power, but we have grown so used to it over teh period of our lives were going to find it very difficult to live without.

and in all honesty we dont really need tools. the Na'Vi dont seem to build all their stuff seems to be natural i can see where this is a problem for us btu its a nice idea

A lot of tools we can build our selves and it may be a good idea to build them BEFORE 'Awvea Atan.

I just don't see a realistic way we can do this w/o electricity. I wish I could see a way, but I don't.
