Equipment can be stored in Eco-village and the part, which we'll need we can take with us and if the tribe will have camp in good distance (not too close, not too far away), it can be good. And tell me. How many equipment will you need on hunting trip (1-2 days)?? Bow, arrows, knife and some kind of bag. And what equipment will you need in the tribal camp? Maybe some kind of axe, knife, some equipment for cooking... and that's all, I think. If eco-village will be about 1-2 hours from tribal camp it's close enough for medical assistance (and for tribal member's trips to Eco-village), but not too close for disrupting activities of tribe or eco-village. And growing crops can be next to the Eco-village, so equipment will not be far away (or we can bulid one byilding next to the field). IMHO in tribal camp, there is no need for permanent building.

Hemmond here has raised an interesting point - the eco-village has had little development recently. Mainly our discussions have been almost all about the tribe - forgive me, I was under the impression that we were merging in some way?

In response to the post, an idea we had in some other thread was for eah tribe member to have a "survival kit" of sorts - which would contain a strong knife, fire-lighting material, maybe some dried food, jor the purposes of extended trips out of the central village.
But back to buildings - For the tribe, i would prefer some kind of reasonably impressive building. Even just one. As a symbol of our goal. But, Hemmond, this building would need to be fairly sturdy depending on the weather.

The more pemananent building we were talking about was originally our "command centre" - where we would keep our communications equipment (satellite phone, etc). But, as a plus for as 'Eylan said "selling the tribe" artificial (but still beautiful) buildings are looking attractive to many of us.

But...I can see no conclusion being reached in this thread! SOme people want to build the home, others want a built home. Both have their positives and negatives, and there seems to be equal support for both!

That isn't supported by the poll, although there isn't any consensus.

I agree 100%. Some people want simple homes for the tribe as in tee-pees, tents, debris shelters, etc. As I've said, personally I'd want something more like the sphere idea, but maybe built ourselves, instead of imported? It's going to be very tough to come to a final decision on this, because, well, it's the homes we're going to be living in. I'm sure we all want them a different way.

Hey, maybe we could just let each individual member decide on what he or she wants for a home! (As long as it's not too complicated...) But I guess that might be complicated, so maybe not? :P

I think if it's something we can build on site, then everyone should have what they want, uniform constructions would be boring!

Wouldn't it be awesome if everyone's home reflected their personality or interests?  8)

And that would reflect one of the major points of the tribe: freedom! ;D

Okay. :) Building for "tribe meetings&and other stuff" would be great (maybe some backup radio trasciever for communication with eco-village) and home for each tribe member can be some kind of shack or tent around it. That is good idea. I didn't realised (or i missed previous posts) that you don't think one "cool" building... My idea was to make tribal camp with as less as possible damage to the forests around. :) And eco-village as backup site for tribe for retreat of some kind (very dangerous weather? etc.)

I think I found the perfect treehouses for us. ;D Something outside of the normal "4 walls and a roof" design (even more unnatural looking than perfect spheres ;)), but materially still more natural than the fiberglass spheres.

http://dornob.com/weavers-nest-tree-house-or-the-work-of-a-very-big-bird/

We could build the frames ourselves, and then fill them out once we set them up.

i LOVE the weaver nest tree house idea, and we can use other materials for the "walls" like leaves or some thing strong and design them so two (or three) people of the tribe can sleep in it which would safe time and money....i just love this tree house <3

irayo ma Tsyal Maktoyu for this idea!!!!

I think that it is a good idea to talk about this sort of topic, though my personal opinion is that we should build with minimal impact to the surrounding environment, which not only includes the manner of obtaining materials but the materials themselves. However, it should be up to the individual as to how and what they build their homes. Yeah individual freedom!!  :D

There are a number of different houses I'm thinking of, with different pros and cons.
http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/9719/casase.jpg

These are all simple, "ground houses", and the one on the two last pictures, and on the left, second from the bottom (three pics of the same house) looks very cozy to me. :)
Hobbit-like, almost. But it would only work somewhere high up, with no risk of flooding.

Then there are cave houses. I guess they would be pretty cool (cool in temperature) and a good way to escape the heat.

Reminds me of Tatooine. :P

Then stilt houses, which would be good if we live near a river or other large body of water with risk of flooding, we want to stay near the water and any high enough point (with no risk of flooding) is too far away. You can have them either on land or directly in the water. A good way to protect ourselves from certain animals. (Don't they have something like that in the Avatar compound?)

Nìmwey, those ideas are great! It will all depend on where we end up, so I hope one of your ideas will work! I had the idea of caravans, something we would move by hand if we wished to.

Our building choices will undoubtedly be affected primarily by location, and by the materials available. The good thing about Nìmwey's findings is that at least one of each of those ideas should be possible in any environment! I would be happy to live in any of them, and I think it would be a matter of personal choice for each member.

On another point, we decided a while back that we would have a single, sturdy, artificial "command centre", which would contain any documents as well as communications technology. Kind of like the Project Tribal office! Do we still agree on this? It would be made of man-made materials, so as to ensure security.
