Can I make a suggestion the eyktan on the site will be more an orrginizer/ ambasador because its hard to get a leader with out actually meating them so we should have a vote when we get to know each other at the camp or we may run into trouble with power control

We've already decided in the original thread that this is not the permanent Eyktan position. When we actually meet for the first time, then we'll re-vote.

Why shouldn't they? Like I said in my previous post, the best leader is one that gets out there with you.

A very interesting point from both of you ^_^ I must say that you are both incorrect in your assumptions- our Eyktan should have all of the qualities that you have just said. Sure, being really good at one or the other is nice, but I would like to quote something a friend told me... his was a quote too, but I can't remember who is was: "...Specialization is for insects."

Our Eyktan should be able to do a number of things, but also be able to learn more. As we all should.

Anyway, this Eyktan is only for the organization of this effort. The Eyktan, Unil, and I will be working hand in glove to make sure that this get's done and done right. So relax, and think about it without too much stress. ^_^ May the best candidate win!

That's what I was getting on at. I was just countering his statement that they shouldn't have wilderness skills. I never said anything about not having motivation and people skills. :)

Right, this is to get the ball rolling. Not to decide who will lead the tribe out in the wilderness. This is the leader that will get us to the wilderness. An understanding of most of the skills of survival and hopefully all of the skills for leadership is preferential so that the Eyktan can make informed decisions. If he/she doesn't know everything :) then he/she should be willing to immerse himself in reading materials and other sources to do the best he/she can. People skills are a must so that he/she/it :) can bring together the rest of the peoples.

As far as I'm concerned, if people are going to be serious about buying property, organizing transportation to/from the permanent place for newcomers or those who wish to leave (considering that some people will be unable/unwilling to drive, just something to consider), setting up the property that has been purchased, organizing schedules/group events/etcetcetc, then the person who is 'elected', if you will, to be the 'setting up' leader, should at least be of age to purchase said property. I think its great that younger people are so passionate about wanting to get back to nature and set up something fantastic like this, but its just not exactly feasable. We're going to need someone Adult, who has had some life experience, and who can commit to doing this properly and carefully.

Just a bit of my opinon.

Good point, though may I remind you that this will most likely start ~4 years from now. The "younger" people won't be so young then!

Atanyä tsyal

Atanyä tsyal, my real name is Cameron.

I have skills in hunting, leadership, and the protection of others. The Marine Corps will do that to you.

Not only do I believe my hunting skills would be of great beneficiary to the tribe, but when it comes to times of great need I will be prepared to stand up and protect the tribe and everything that has been established. Through me, we can great a better tomorrow, for the tribe, and the world as one.

Atanyä tsyal, tell us, what you would do to start organising our tribe.  What kind of research are you willing to do?  That's mostly what we need at this point, someone to help guide along and mediate between different people and such.  Help make decisions.

Also: YAY!

Please PM me if you are still interested in the real Na'vi tribe.

keye'ung makto

yes in that 4 years you have time to hone all your skills,

leadership requires these things

intellagence  (spelling fail)
common sence
wisdom
a sence of what is right
and the will do do whatever is nessisary for the welfare of the people

choosing a leader just based on who is most popular or who knows the most is the most disasterous thing we can do as a tribe.

my sugestion is to get ourselves situated with  places to sleep, farms/ water sources and a compleate understanding of the surounding habitat/ and wildlife before we begin choosing a leader.

just a thaught

The point of this Eyktan is to help get everything into solid motion, not to be the permanent leader.
The actual Ekytan will be chosen once we are all together and get a feel for everyone and everything together.
This Eyktan will be responsible for settling arguments, helping make decisions, and also giving everyone a point to shoot at.  If he/she helps make this thing into a reality, then, hell, if they don't become Ekytan they will certainly have everyone's respect.

In order to start organizing the tribe we much first settle the question of where. A good contemplation would be a location near clean running water, a spot with lush vegetation and plenty of animals. After this step we would need to put into progression the building of homes, schools, nurseries, and other essentials, while we have people doing these a set amount would also be gathering the starting supply of food and water. From there we will need to train People to jobs such as hunters and shamans. Afte a good foundation is settled we can start bringing in more resources and people and expanding our grounds to fit the needs of the tribe.

keye'ung makto

yeah that's what im saying we need a foundation before we have leadership

bagget00

this is for leadership to get things organized. When we are there here will be a different election of leader for the clan.

I get that you guys aren't planning to get this going for at least four years. My point is more regarding this "temporary" position, the person who will lead the initial set up. It would be a little ridiculous to have a fourteen year old in that position, no matter how mature.  ::)

Yes Sun Tzu was a brilliant tactition and wise beyond all years, but wasn't he also a communist dictator?
