Well, here it is. The moment that we've all been waiting for: the election for Temporary Eyktan.

We've seen the candidates, and listened to the plans. Now it has come down to this- The final vote. Do not tell us who you voted for, or I will discount it. The Poll will be open until Monday, February 8th.

Good luck to the candidates, ulte Eywa ayoenghu frakrr.

Txontaw

I personally believe that none of the candidates should vote. It will just make it more fair, and it also prevents people from voting for themselves.

They should at least wait until there are a few votes in, just to keep things private.

But we shouldn't have people post after voting, then they know who voted when.

Rescinded.

Makes sense to me and sounds plenty fair.

No offense to whoever wins, but what are we going to do if it turns out we made a bad choice for eyktan? Are we stuck until we actually meet?

I believe that we will have made a good choice, no matter who wins.

I personally have yet to vote, and I am going to wait until the last minute to do so. At the end of day 1, however, it appears that Two people have voted, and both for the same candidate. No names mentioned.

I'm posting all of my answers to the questions in one place here, because I think it will be easier for people to see my opinions in one place. I urge the other participants to do the same.

Well, nobody can really do anything official yet as far as actual preparing goes. Right now everything's just ideas on paper. I have done some location hunting, and I plan to do some more. I think that actually contacting individuals about buying property is waaay down the line since we still have to get together to see if even some sort of gathering is going to work in the first place. I wish to see this idea to completion, no matter what it takes.

And to actually get to completion, it's better to take baby steps and make sure that it will work instead of rushing to the finish line without actually testing for plausibility. Many ideas like this are abandoned because of lack of planning, or too much rushing to get to the end product. I mean, we all want to be able to actually do this, but it would be unwise to try and get there as soon as possible. In the original thread I created a projected time line, and I placed the start of the tribe to around ten years. I wish to be as realistic as possible in my goals. I realize that this is a ton of work that will go into this, and I'm prepared to shoulder the responsibility of coordinating it.

Even though I'm only 14 (almost 15 :P), many people think, and have told me that I act older than my age because of my maturity, both online and in real life. When I have a project, I take to it with a passion, and this is no different.

I was extremely motivated to work out and get in shape when I saw this movie. When I get an idea, I stick to it. I am extremely stubborn when it comes to those things, and I get annoyed when something I wanted doesn't make it to the end product. So the only way something won't get into this camp is if it's totally impossible for it to happen. I am a perfectionist when it comes to my work & projects, and even if everyone thinks it's already great, there's always one more thing I can do to make it better....

I've taken this tribe idea to heart. I've always debated with myself of whether I wanted to live with my love for cool tech, or follow my natural roots and take to living with nature. Avatar, and you guys, have really helped me decide which side is more satisfying in the long run. Like I said before, when I get an idea, I tend to stick with it, and this idea is like superglue.

I'll give whatever I can to this. It's frustrating, not being old enough to really contribute yet, but I'll do whatever I can in the mean time, like looking for promising locations for the tribe. But once I turn 18, I'll be over this like a loving pack of rabid dogs. If necessary, I'll set aside some of my revenue to help support it.

As for leading skills, I've always been very good at coordinating projects, and when I take charge, people listen to me. For example, in fourth grade, we had to do a biome poster. I immediately took charge, and not only coordinated what everybody was doing, I jumped in and started helping out, as well as suggesting new ideas for it and layouts. It would be no different for a tribe. I don't want to be the boss that holes himself up in his office most of the time, and when he doesn't he yells at you for slacking off. Instead, I want to be the leader that is right next to you, helping you finish your work.

As for other skills, I've said in the sign-up thread that I'm good with my hands (woodworking, constructing) and I am an artist. I've never hunted since my family doesn't really get out a lot (I've never gone camping with my family, I've only gone camping four times total), but hopefully I'm going to get a bow for my birthday, which I will practice with a lot. By the time this starts, I hope to be an expert in everything that you need to know to live in the forest.

I think that every tribe member should be able to continue to practice his own religion without pressure to change to something else. That doesn't mean that you won't have anything to do, though! I do believe that it is important to teach the importance of nature. But not as a religion in and of itself, but a kind of add-on to any other religion. No matter what your religion is, it's important to know and respect nature.

I want this tribe to succeed because I think it is important that we realize our roots, and we connect with them. It is important to respect nature, not to overrun it. This is our own way of telling the world what is the right thing to do. I think that even if it fails in the long run, we will come away from it with great experiences, and we will have bonded with each other, and made new friends.

I would give up this race if I thought someone else would be better qualified. This is because I am not lusting for power. I am lusting for just leadership, leadership that can get things done. If someone else can do it better, then I have no problem stepping down, and letting them take my place.

QuoteHow motivated are you? Why do you want this Tribe to succeed, and what do you plan to do to make it happen?

What are you willing to give up to do this?

What sort of experience do you have with leading? Or hunting? In general even?

How motivated are you? Why do you want this Tribe to succeed, and what do you plan to do to make it happen?
id like to think im pretty motivated, i want this tribe to sucseed because i think its an awsome idea that defiantely deserves some merit and consideration, well ill do anything i can to make it happen

What are you willing to give up to do this?
well im willing to give up almost everything as long as soon as i have finished UNI cause then i can (if i have to) go and get a job to earn money to pay for more stuff for the tribe

What sort of experience do you have with leading? Or hunting? In general even?
im not totally sure if i have any expreience with leading cause iv never captained a team at school or anything, i did once lead me and some m8s off for a week of roughing it but thats different, i have some experience with hunting as in i do allot in my free time but its more with a gun than a bow but im totally willing ot learn and as soon as I go home im gonna try and make my own bow

QuoteMy question is: How far would you willing to let me go with this? Would you allow me to teach my beliefs, and to train others to teach as well, or would you limit it to something that is more... kosher? Pretty much, will you get in the way of this, "For the good of the people"?
i would be happy to let you teach religion and about nature but within reason. if you tried to start a whole new religion and were unconsiderate of others beliefs already in place then i would totally change my view.

religion should be a faith that you follow because you want to and not because you are forced into it

Why do you want this tribe to succeed, and why do you want to be the temporary Eyktan? Answer that one carefully, but honestly, before you answer this final question:

QuoteWould you give up this race if you believed that someone else would do a better job, and further the Tribe's plans better than yourself, and why?

want this tribe to sucseed because i think it will be a great venture, not just for the fact that we all really like avatar, teh fact that we can see that there is a flaw with society today and we want to make a differance, also if a few people take a stand then more will join, it may take a long time but change happens and this may be the best type of change. i want to be the tempory eyktan because well i really dont have a reason other than im a good go between. i would be the worst choice for a candidate seeming as i live in the Uk and am only 17. im a people person, and i can hunt and be stealthy. i dont see these as good skills for a leader, but then iv never been a leader so I dont know my potential.

QuoteWould you give up this race if you believed that someone else would do a better job, and further the Tribe's plans better than yourself, and why?

without a second thought yes i would, if they were better than me and were able to get thigns done then i would be happy to take a backseat.

if we do this and im not the eyktan i wont mind, iv given it my best shot ill settle for being a normal guy or maybe head of hunting "Nudge, nudge"

I like Tiloran too.  He's quite smart.  More mature than the others... my opinion.

Please PM me if you are still interested in the real Na'vi tribe.

I agree about Tìloran.

Like Unil said, he's much more mature, and he knows a lot about what we are trying to do. And he has a lot of really interesting ideas and opinions. That is just my opinion, though. The people are the ones who will ultimately decide ^_^

Oh well, I think that Tìloran will do a good job, probably better than I could.

I totally agree with you. I went through all of his post in the Eyktan thread and Tìloran really knows what he's doing. On a more technical sense, I'd say he's the only "politician" that I know off that gives such long, clear and precise answer without spinning them out.

Well, I was going to continue this until midnight tonight, but I do not see anything in this situation changing the outcome, so I am closing the polls now.

Tìloran, you are the winner, and are now the Temporary Eyktan until further notice. Congratulations ^_^ I know you will do well.

To the other people who ran, thank you for trying, and I hope that you try again when we decide on a more permanent Eyktan.
