How far is too far?

There's been a lot of discussion about what should be allowed and what shouldn't. I figure it would be better placed in a separate thread.

Personally, I think it's necessary to have a computer, so that we have a connection to the rest of the world. (This is essential if the summer camp is in the same place, so that we can organize and even know when they show up)

I also think that it is important to have water purifiers, and some basic hygienic stuff, like a toothbrush. This is because I'm not going to give up my health for the sake of cutting myself completely from technology.

It sucks doesn't it? No matter how far we want to get away, we really can't in the end. There ARE things we're still going to absolutely need, like the things in you post and soap and such.

And what about going to the bathroom?

Bathroom = eco-latrine
soap= easily hand made
dental hygenics=can be natural depending on where we are(available herb/plants), but not likely
Contact= a simple solar laptop or hand cranked laptop for communication use only any unauthorized use is punishable with here hopefuly available to us by then but i'm sure there are more already accessable now.

I weep for this world. Our dependency on electronics will be our downfall. Or at least for those who do not embrace a simpler life style. Simpler like us (not yet obviously). Like the Na'vi.
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.

Not...really. Our medicine tech has increased life expectancy from 30 years to 80.

So, yes, I think that humans are too 'plugged in', but tech can be a good thing as well. It's not black and white, there's grey area in there too.

Well he was only talking about electronics anyways, so I think we're all in agreement here.

Don't thank! You don't thank for this! This is sad... VERY sad only!

We could train birds. And yes, I was talking about the useless electronic devices, not the good ones or the ones we really truly ''need.''

We definetly need antibiotics in case of infection. Fungicide would be useful too. I think all we would need for comms and purification (including for human wastes.) can be placed inside a unit half the size of the halleluja mounain lab. In there we could have a small trauma room for broken bones and life threatening stuff.

We want to get as close to our mother earth without being 10 ft under.

A proper place to dispose of the deceased would also be neccesary in case of unfortunate occurrings...

Some clothes would be nice and also sun protection. You do not want a sunburn when you're wearing fishnets and leather thongs...

Basic tools should also stay, like knives and axes. When we run out of those, we will have learned to
make our own.

Basic showers should also be there unless there is a clean lake or a small river (without dangerous animals).

I think that's all we would need. Tell me what you think. No bulls***.

Nanaki

I approve what you say Hufwe Makto, the most important things are in your message !

I'm sure there's a list somewhere of all the technology that we agreed to bring to it due to it being necessary, I'll have a look and if I find it I'll post a link

I'm glad everyone agrees. Thx for the positive feedback

I think everything should be optional. I don't want to be thrown on a civilized schedule.

Txontaw

Yes, of course. We're just discussing the maximum that is to be allowed.
