And so you know, we do have quite a few experts here on the thread with us. I know for a fact that we will be having a few survival gurus in the Tribe alongside us. And we are making sure to plan this out, and I am going to try and stress the importance of being closer to civilization than others want. As for moneys, I know that with the way I have my life planned, I will be able to help out with Tribe's financial situation ^_^ Yay doctorate!

plus we have threads for just about every aspect I can think of when it comes to survival.

I was just wondering if you guys were actually considering doing this without an advanced knowledge of surviving out in the wilderness. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that that is incredibly dangerous.

And no, I'm not being a nay-sayer... leaving that dream behind was extremely difficult. But you have to be practical about it. How much of a Na'vi are you? Could you survive if you got lost in the woods... today?
Yes, I could. :) I've got quite a bit of hiking and survival experience. I've also done primitive camping, winter camping, even some beach resort camping (okay, so maybe that last one doesn't count haha). I agree with your point though -- that if people are considering making a tribe, experience in survival and woodsmanship beforehand, not after, will be imperative. I applaud your pragmatism.

Thank you!  ;D  Also, that's really cool that you've done primitive camping... I'm young, so I haven't had the chance yet. Is it as fun as I think it is?  :)

Yeah, it is a lot of fun. It's a lot of work, too. You don't just flop down somewhere, start a fire, and have a good time. Finding proper shelter, food, water... it's all a challenge. I only camped out over a weekend, and the site was pre-selected so it was a semi-controlled environment. Long term and in unfamiliar territory? That would be a daunting task, even for someone with experience. That's why I keep trying to emphasize that before people even begin to think about 'permanent camps' or 'official tribe', they should start with small steps. When you build a house, you don't start with the roof, you start with the foundation.

Local meetups => Day Hikes => Overnight campout => Weekend Campout => Weekend Hike => Weeklong Camp => Weeklong Hike => Specialized events (winter, survival, primitive, ect.)
