Ah.

Oh dear.

I am ashamed to say that it completely slipped my mind!

For five months...

Tell you what, I will find some construction plans for you tomorrow, and PM them. Thanks for reminding me!

That's weird. Could have sworn I sent one off the other day...ah well. I blame a faulty internet!

If that doesn't work, then I shall post several websites and articles which I trust to have genuine plans. The one below is an SAS style quick shelter - for short stays and easy build. Check it out!

Yes... This kind of shelter is easy to build and easy to one-two nights there... But if you will have some more complex plans for building some harder, but more stable, shelters, I can try to make them too... For longer staying, while we'll be building our encampment. :)

Numeyu92

the spheres for me would not be a good idea. One if I do go I will have my soulmate with me and the spheres are tight fitting for two people let alone a future family. The spheres also move in a light breeze as I found out on their website imagine if we do go to Hawaii the winds are no light breeze.

Is it possible we can have hammocks, like the Na'vi?

is this already discussed?

for using beds, I would prefer hammocks
How did the Na'vi made it? with rope? what kind of a rope?

Nìmwey

Of COURSE we have to have hammocks. ;D
No way am I going to sleep in a bed, since I doubt we would be able to have (long term) very comfortable, "luxurious" beds. And in regular beds, I almost always get back pain.

Mayan/mexican/brazilian hammocks FTW.

Mine, taken just now. :D

Tsmuktengan

I'm with you on this. I love hammocks, have brought back two of them from Brazil on my side.  :)

Brazilian hammocks can offer very wide space and cover you up. Here is an idea of what it is, from a picture taken from a blog :

Gotta learn to make them since we can't have something too luxurious, but the designing on them is pretty simple, so I thing it won't be too hard after a while of practice.

Nìmwey

Brazilian and Mayan hammocks are very similar, except that the Brazilian ones are actual fabric, while the Mayan ones are more loosely woven.

It actually takes a lot of time. I have nothing against taking one that is already made, since there are so many things to do ourselves anyway.

Well that I understand, but I'm a DIY-if-possible type of person, and if I can learn something, I wouldn't mind doing it. Personally, a planar-style hammock wouldn't appeal to me as much as a net, though it might be more comfortable, the net is less demanding (atleast I believe) on materials. Then again, this is all just opinion, and wherever we land, we land.

EDIT: And well, I found one thing that would be most beneficial say be buy hammocks - A hammock tent, which is a standard hammock fitted with mosquito net and tarp. Might be worth it.

Ni-awtu

hammocks are AWESOME and once the tribe is up-and-running people can learn to knot or weave them, I think this would be appropriate considering the whole 'live off the land' idea.

really, though, as long as it doesn't rain, sleeping in hollows of trees is comfy enough... but I agree that there will be plenty of people who disagree with that. the best course of action seems to be to allow variety.

and maybe a communal hut? if you could train trees (obviously this is gonna take a long time) to grow over each other you could make a natural shelter...worth considering?

Tsmuktengan

To me, it is a bit early.  ;D

But you can look for this if you want. If this is possible, this can be intriguing.

Ni-awtu

lols, I'm gonna find out lots about this, even though I dont think i can join the tribe, at least not yet, I can still help gather you info xx

Now, I'm a fan of "stationary" houses, like cave houses and Earthships and such, but I just have to show you this: http://terriermandotcom.blogspot.se/2013/04/cabin-porn-yurt-edition.html (DON'T get scared by the title. ;))
Just look at how you can furnish a yurt tent. ;D

Tsmuktengan

Well, Yurts look like they can be a very convenient choice. I am not sure they would be my first personal choice, but they are an option for who wants and for some necessities.  :)

hemmond

Yurts are great for more people. So like meeting room, dining room, or infirmary... Or pretty big house. :D But it'll be one of my choices. The mobile one. :D
