I've known a lot of close friends who went over there.  Not a fun place to be.
Haven't heard from a few of them.  I don't really want to think about that, you know?

Please PM me if you are still interested in the real Na'vi tribe.

In response to the M/F ratio, I'm a female.

In terms of what I can bring... not really much...

I can cook, fish, am decent with children...

I can maintain fires (can't start them for my life though)

As for allergies... I'm practically allergic to everything in the outside world T.T but I could get over it since most of it's mild. Not allergic to anything food-wise, just a moderate sensitivity to most things dairy.

But I have little to no experience in living outdoors (very conservative parents who work full time + only child = indoor life :/). I bet I could adapt in enough time and experience. I'm not in the best physical condition, and I'm nearsighted... I'm sure all of this can be overcome though.

It was crazy; we did neighborhood patrols in Baghdad and ran munitions convoys through the Sunni Triangle in 2004-2005. I put a picture of me there in the Real-Life Pictures thread, on page 8. I had six guys in my squad and I am glad to say I got all of them home, whole in mind and spirit as well as in body. We had the fewest casualties (wounded and KIA) of any unit in the 1st Cavalry (that's who I belonged to at the time).

Make no mistake about-- the ability to keep a sense of humor, and keep your head together, in extreme stress is an undervalued skill. Especially if others are depending on you. People get bored and frustrated and lash out, get into arguments, stuff like that, to express their stress. It's normal, but I had to harness & channel that & get the guys to do other things to burn it off. I think that was worth more than any other mission I might have accomplished over there. Having all my guys walk off the plane at the end was more than any medal or whatever.

EDIT:
Oh, starting fires? I can do that pretty well.

Damn, now I want to go camping. But I'm in Idaho. In January. Damn.

Twonyu Ikranä I enjoy going outside by myself, it's just I'm not familiar with being out in the wilderness. I'm very fond of walking around barefoot inside and out, and the other day there was some snow left over in my backyard and I went and stood in the snow and wiggled my toes in it and stuff with no fear of my parents telling me to stop haha :] There's a park near me with lots of tall trees, it's just complicated in that the trees are so tall there's no hope of climbing them (the low branches are all removed as soon as they sprout).

On the island idea for the future, I looked into Brazil (my first thought process: near equator --> Brazil --> *searches islands near Brazil* --> http://www.privateislandsonline.com/geraldo-island-brazil.htm )

Irayo, ma tsmuke.

For the record, I'm near-sighted as well.  What comes from staring at a screen most of my life.  I have two or three pairs of glasses though, and I'll acquire at least one more before we settle.  I'm wearing contacts atm, and I sometimes forget about them, lol.

Do I need to put ay'eveng caregivers on the list?  Input, thanks.

Also, guys, check the list.  Make sure I have everything right.  If you want/need something changed, just ask.

Coyote: Glad to hear it!  It's always good to hear of our troops getting back safely. :]
I had an ex-bf who skipped out on going.  I wanted to shoot him.  Honestly.  He was such a--
K, going to stop.  Before I say something that will get me in trouble.

Also, a good sense of humour is essential in any high-stress job.  Even as an EMT, I'm learning how to joke about it.

Actually, not a bad price.  Only 1.7 USD. about.

at the current exchange rate, more like 1.45 USD :]

I've been looking into laser eye surgery, even before Avatar. (Yeah, I'm nearsighted too)

And as for talents, I think I'd be a good teacher (if/when kids happen) and I'm good with my hands (construction), as well as throwing knifes and axes.

If you keep the list updated, Unil, I'll post it on the front page.

By the way, folks, what good is a tribe without some musicians? Song, dance, and storytelling will be a lot of our entertainment in this sort of lifestyle.

Bring guitars, drums, what have you. If you bring a banjo, that's cool, I'm good with that, but we will be keeping an eye on you.

So, Unil Txep, remember the "Polyphemus Sunrise" in the RP section? We need to think of blue beer recipes. We could make a pub, maybe call it the Taproot and experiment with distilling some of Eywa's finest "spirits".  ;D
