I think that looking for a location immediately is not really the thing that works.

Currently, I think it is a better idea to see how life in a totally natural environment really is. Going for a few days, one week or so with a group, accompanied with someone who exactly knows what survival in forest really implies would be the best idea currently to get on.

This would allow each of us to see how it really is like, and to learn by practice what life in such a different environment implies and requires, as well as giving a few basics and first impressions.

I am aware there are some groups who offer trips into French Guiana's amazon rainforest where it is possible to learn the basics or survival and life in this kind of environment, for those who want to get the taste in living in full nature. I however do not know any name or website for this yet.

This may exist elsewhere in other countries, but it would be a good idea to look for this stuff and plan on this at first. There is no better than putting a finger tip into the cold water before jumping in entirely. This would make it also much easier to travel for everyone of us who are very active in their life with their studies or job, as this is the kind of thing you plan during vacations. It allows us to go smoothly into the business.

So looking for such a planned trip made to discover the amenities of life in nature is to me the best thing to do currently.

What do you think? Do you have any suggestions? Please do tell your impressions even if these are only two words.  ;)

I thought this would be interesting for those following the project. I am looking for sites about this, but without any answer, I think I can just drop the project and look for this for myself...  :-\

I think that the BEST thing to do, would be to run several polls to see where the interest lies. I would assume that most would want to go to a Tropical Rainforest, as it is the most like Pandora, but Mongolia has it's own beauty, as does the swamps of the everglades, the deserts of North Africa, the dense forests of western Canada, and the frozen tundra of north Alaska.
I have lived in all of these conditions, and find beauty and majestry in all of them.  While I am too old (ONLY the number of times that I have circled the Sun, NOT my superb physical conditioning), to go on a moon trip, there is one place on this planet, that is as strange and lethal as anyplace in space, and that is the bottoms of our oceans. If I were to hit a large lottery, I would rent a deep submersible, for as much time as my money would allow.
Before anyone gets mad about my last statement, I was NOT trying to hijack this thread, I was only showing those who realize that they, for whatever reason, will probably never leave the confines of this planet, that there is much beauty and amazement HERE, and they should NOT become depressed.
Back to me original thought line, I think that it would ba a cool thing if you put up a Poll with all the major climate types, and see what turns out.

I was thinking this in the same optic. Making such a trip would allow to make all teh efforts we will have to do there. It is not only about admiring nature like you can admire a painting, it is about living it and everything it implies. For the climate thing I do not know though.

I'm still here every day and wish we could get a way to raise interest and motivation again, but I don't know how.

I cannot find pages for trips in at least natural areas or forests where you live in true nature and learn the basic ways of survival and life in very basic conditions. I always find pages about trips for adventure and nature stuff with acrobranche with all the accomodation and stuff, but this isn't what we are looking for.

Still looking, I am quite slow and not very efficient for searching. I am absolutely certain this is offered in French Guiana since at least one year. But finding such info is uneasy because not as widely popular as many other activities.

Tsmuktengan

Okay,  I am finally getting more interesting information.  As soon as I get some more and plan a few stuff about the website, I could take the lead of the project.

Stay tuned.

I am hopefully going to Belize (or somewhere else in Central America) this summer, mainly to give a bird away to a rescue/conservation center there, but I would want to do something "useful" tribe-wise too.
I just don't know what to look for, I can't even find the words so there is nothing to google. ???

I would ask how life in countries like Belize (economically, natural activities or services possible, corruption[well, Belize seems very corrupted], but also possible dangers inside and outside the forests), trying to know what is possible and what isn't. I guess that Belize suffer from all the drug traffic from the surrounding countries despite their increasing HDI, that does not necessarily reflect a good situation for us.

By talking to locals who appear to have a good education, you can probably get interesting information about all this. This includes of course people working with animals and natural issues.

Also beware : even if English is the national language, Spanish is still the most spoken one there yet.  :P

 Ma Trmuktengan,
There are places in the Unites States where I could take you tht you won't see another human for weeks, but when you do, they will speak English, and the corruption, and drug lord armies won't be there.  I can take you to any climate that you like, with any weather that suits you, and you will still either be in America, or an American Territory.
You DON'T need to go to some corrupt, crime and drug ridden country to be out in the wild.

I can imagine, you are certainly right. However, I do not really know the climate thee are on the US continent, and as Hawaii was regularly mentioned, not only because of the outstanding landscapes but also for it's climate. And there are quite a lot of countries with such a climate that do have issues, aside Hawaii and French Guiana.

If you know good locations in the US that could be sustainable while avoiding densely populated areas, why not. :)

The idea is to not go to unstable and unsecure territories, and yet have a comfortable climate and various food sources as well as the possibility to move and walk on quite large areas without stepping on someone's land or having to spend thousands of dollars.

Hawai'i is good for sub tropical, if you want full tropical vegetation, shear rock cliffs, and ocean with PLENTY of things in it that would just love to eat you, theae is where I used to live, in American Samoa. EVERYONE is bilingual, it is a TOTALLY tribal society, and while ALL the islands are owned by one chief or another, IF you clear it through the tourist bureau, they will get in touch with a Tribal High chief, you give him or her a couple of hundred dollars, and they will even have a Samoan fire dancer come up at your last night Fiafia, complete with in the ground roasted wild pig.
You want to do the desert? Death valley, Temperate forest? there are six places that come to mind as I write this, but for the most extreme version of it, southern Alaska wins hands down. Get in touch with one of the Native nations, and for a donation to their health care clinic, they would be happy to send people out with you and help you learn a lot about surviving in that climate.
You want SERIOUS polar? The North Slope of Alaska. Again, donate to their tribal fund, and they would be HAPPY to show you HOW they live, just don't hurt their feelings when they offer you blubber to eat.
There are WAYS that you can be a WELCOME GUEST at these Native lands, be taught valuable skills by the local indigenous experts, AND be a GREAT HELP to some local peoples who will GENUINELY appreciate
your help, and honor your desire to learn their way of living in that climate.

Hmm, now this is very interesting... I have just no idea how such a thing can be planned.

I have no real interest in settling in Belize, like I said, I am primarily going there for giving my bird away to a conservation center, but I figured I might do something useful while I'm there.

I know, but I thought asking this kind of information could be useful.

My lifemate and I would definitely be interested in this. Seeing as we're already homeless, we don't have anything tying us down. If you get anything officially worked out, my lifemate and I would love to try and save up the money to join you.
Join Project Tribal here  (And yes, it will be a real tribe in the real world, NOT a role play tribe!) Feel free to PM me about it!

Juts to say that I am on the new website, just difficulties to fiind elements and a good theme right now. My school work and my daily load of things to do makes me slow. All my apologies, I know many people are looking for some kind or organization here.  ???

If people have some ideas or wants on the website content, please tell. I have my ideas, but if you have suggestions, I can hear you.
