Friends, an issue has been raised in another topic which affects us dearly.

Currently, our focus needs to be on drawing in new members from the world in order to increase our numbers. For this purpose, we have two main centres to our project - the informational website, and this forum.
But we need to consider the typical prospective member - to have to check out two seperate sources, and to have to subscribe to an Avatar forum even if that person is not an Avatar fan, seems like a series of actions that even the most committed of new members may struggle to take.

With this in mind, and also considering the support for a new information website, I feel it is time that we took Project Tribal to the next level.

We have been a part of the learnnavi.org forum for two years now. It has served as our home very well, and provided an ideal source of members and information...until now. We have reached the stage where we need to depart this forum in order to progress. My suggestion, therefore, is a simple one - it is time we left the confines of the learnnavi forum.

This would mean setting up an alternate communications and information system. I feel that the ideal method for doing this would be with the creation of a new website - one that has both informational pages and a members forum where we make decisions. Thatw ay, it is extremely easy for prospective members to join us.

We now need those experienced in the area of web design to come forward. We can make our best efforts, but I want our website to look professional - I am sure there are those of us on here who can make this plan a reality! From there, we will be able to make real advancements, and get back on schedule for this project to reach completion.

My thanks,
Tonbogiri

I'm not so sure. Given the amount of variation in numbers and frequent inactivity, is it really worth the amount of time and expense needed to set up a new website/forum just to move away from Avatar a bit.
I would also like to point out that there are already similar people around who have already set up their own webspace (yes, I'm thinking about Blue Moon). It might be worth considering joining another group, both to increase our overall numbers, share information and to save the expense of creating another website. I suspect no one else will feel comfortable with this idea, but I thought it was worth airing.

Hmm, I do not know. For instance, as I said in another topic, another forum is too early in my opinion. A new website using a CMS would help us saving a lot of time, show the project has improved since it's beginning, and will be much easy to maintain and keep up to date. Fusion with another group is perhaps too early as well. We can however rely on information sharing and, in the future, cooperation to make both projects solid and end up realizing the projects.

Ma Tonbogiri, I am starting to imagine the new website. Could you start thinking about ewhat kind of design you would like? How would oyu see the pages to be organized?

Feel free to explore the available themes for Wordpress, as this is what I plan to use : https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/

I also favor separating from Learnnavi.org.

Well, all right then. But I'll need some time to learn how to install and host a forum.

Also, we need more than just a new forum. We need a way to attract people. Are web rings still effective?

I do not think so, as they do not correspond at all to today's ways of searching and gathering information. It seems pretty ignored and inefficient, regarding the rare website using such a system and the fact it seems pretty much unfriendly when using one I know.

Work can however be done to have a good refereeing in Google search results, while we progressively gather more data about geographical locations, way of life, essentials, etc. I'll try to get some more information and notions about this. Some of my friends are very qualified in professional web development and know about referencing.

At least who is still more or less active and following it.

I have seen your new post about the islands, I'll reply soon.
