Well, here in the UK it has just turned March 14th, so it is a good time to put this up now!

The project I have been working on the past two weeks is the creation of our own unique website, serving as a reference and as a summary of everything we are doing/have done. Unfortunately, due to some complicated server thingy, it is not fully complete - a compilation of wilderness skills videos has yet to be completed, for example.

Also, the reason it was going to be such a big deal was because I was aiming to set up a tribal bank account. The original plan for this went and got scuppered by bank people, so darn. Even putting a big paypal "Donate" sign on the site became an issue.

All of these things will be sorted in time. Other than that, though, the website is all ready to go. Take some time to read the pages, and check out the two videos up there.

Go here, and put it in your favourites...

One heck of a surprise.  ;D

the website looks very good :)

Wow...
Well that's a surprise!

Nìmwey

It looks very nice. ;D

But do you really want to convey such a strong connection to Avatar or Na'vi? All this "going wild" that we in the LN-tribe or the Revolutionists are doing is making gaining respect from outsiders hard enough as it is, but if we show direct ties to a movie, I'm afraid people are just going to take this all a lot less seriously. Sad but true. :(

Nìmwey, I see your point, and it was a difficult decision when designing the site on whether to include Avatar references or not. I suppose I just felt a sense of loyalty towards the film, and this forum.
I feel it is important to remember what got us started. If we ever make a definite public statement, then we may have to trim our ties to the Na'Vi franchise.

Ah well. The pictures seemed to fit though! ;)

Txontaw

So, when I first saw it, two things came to my mind:

My rational brain went "Really inspiring message and very to the point."

And my web design brain went "Oh goodness, this site is a mess." (No offense, please. Just first reactions.)

That said, I would love to help out fixing it up and such. If you'd like to see a (very unfinished) sample of my work, you can check out my (very unfinished) site here (only the homepage is updated to the most recent. All other pages are a previous version).

That said, I am pretty busy this year, so I dunno how much consistent work I could put into it. However, I would try to work on it whenever I could. :)

But, the website's content is awesomeness. I've been kind of hoping for a website for awhile now, because it would let us do more (in the ways of organization and preparation) than we can do here. Great job!

Thankyou Txontaw!

True, in terms of professional design it is lacking. Then again, If I had a few more quid I might have got a service to do it up for me anyway - it just needed to be simple and fun.
If you would like to boost the image of the site, then you may of course help out - but no pressure! It was essentially a nice little newspage. Plus, I would hate to drag you away from your own site.

Great to see that most people like the site so far!

Don't worry about my own site. It's going to be a personal portfolio, and as I currently have nothing worthwhile to put in it, it's in hibernation, so to speak.

If you'd like, I can draw up a small draft of what the site could look like. :)

Definitely! Timing couldn't have been better. Can't wait to see where you go with it.

Having read some of the other posts, I do think it might be a good idea to distance ourselves from Avatar. Do you think we're ready for a forum outside learnnavi.org? Is that even something we could reasonably do? I know nothing about making a website.

While i agree that we must move away from Avatar a little bit (nothing wrong with a bit of the old Na'Vi language popping up!), I would prefer to keep our main forum of discussion on learnnavi.org. It would be awkward to get to grips with a new forum, plus new people may bring up topics already discussed here. After all, we came to this forum in search of Avatar - it would be a shame to leave it.

True. That and this has been a steady recruiting ground. No point in abandoning ship yet. Good points.

On the technical side of things, it's really not that hard to set up a forum.

I agree - for the time being. However, I can see that this could grow beyond what the forum can supply. So don't permanently mark a forum off the list!

Yes, of course Txontaw, a draft would be nice. If anyone remembers Project Anonia, a group which is attempting a similar venture (but they tried to do it in three months), they have hit a brick wall in that no-one is committed anymore. We are still going, thank goodness!

But we can learn from them. Their site was very organised and even had a progress chart! A great deal of pdf plans also existed (at the time of writing, we have just one).

If, Txontaw, you have any ideas, I would love to hear them. Anyone else who has an idea, please also put them forward!

Because we thought they were releated to the Anonymous hacking group for a short time, but I guess they wouldn't be that timely to lure anyone in. But, a plan fails, a plan fails.
