Ngat munge ta tseng ne tseng
Bring you to many places
Take you wonder by wonder

On a flying banshee
On a magic carpet ride

Mind singing it for us?  ;D

HAH! :D :D Don't make me laugh, I'll let you guys suffer through my horrible singing on Sky is Over or another similar rock song but I don't dare put you though the agony that would be me singing this song.

However, I do plan to record me just speaking the dialog so that other, more worthy, people may sing it.

Does someone have an idea where I can dig up the melody.

I'll make an ass out my self. As in I will give it my best try... =)

A Whole New World Karaoke

Ftiafpi, you are the greatest. Much <3.

Man, that is a lot of syllables.

Kayrìlien

This is great! I actually have a friend who was a bit skeptical about learning Na'vi, but he is a die-hard fan of Disney films, especially Aladdin. He'll definitely join in with us now!

As far as actually singing the Na'vi lyrics, it would be pretty hard to squeeze that many syllables into the meter of the English lyrics, but it doesn't seem impossible. (Ejectives have a tendency of slowing down the delivery of a language as well.)

I was definitely planning on doing something like this (with a totally different song, of course), but props to you, ma tsmukan. This is really cool, and I'm still impressed that the whole song was relatively translatable.

Yeah, I tried to keep the syllables down as much as possible and tried to move things around to match the meter of the original song but it's very hard (the problem of translating any song from one language to another). It should be singable though to the original tune with some syllables sped up or slowed down.

Some parts of the song were very hard and some were quite easy. Mostly I had trouble coming up with ways to say things like "whole new world" and "endless horizons" and "hold your breath" (heh, stop your lip wind, so funny).

This is a lot harder than I thought it would be!!

I took the liberty of paring down the chorus :o so I could try to sing it. I humbly beg for your forgiveness. I tried to make it so there weren't so many added syllables, like this...

So... here's my attempt at just this chorus: http://talknavi.com/audio/86/%28draft%29-mipa-kifkey-chorus-only

It is only an experiment. I think I ought to just suck it up and keep working on your translation, Ftiafpi. But it's been weeks since I promised you I'd try, so here is something  :-[

edit on July 24, 2011: since talknavi.com is down now, I re-uploaded the old file here: http://judytuna.posterous.com/mipa-kifkey-draft-1-chorus-only  :D

Ftiafpi

WOW! That's AMAZING! Simply wonderful. I like the changes you made since I figured a lot of those syllables would be really hard to get into there. I can't wait to hear some more. Simply amazing.

judytuna

You know how when the little guys in Animal Crossing are so happy that flowers spray uncontrollably out of their faces? That is how I feel right now. Thank you, Ftiafpi, for the work you've put into these lyrics, and thank you for your encouragement!!! Irayo! Irayo!  :D

I would sing this if I had a female who could speak (or atleast pronounce) Na'vi. Sadly oe wouldn't be able to get either of my sisters or my mother to do so. :-\

Ftiafpi

Oh, wow, I totally forgot about this. judytuna, if you read this, do you still want a pronunciation guide for this? Are you still planning to sing it?

judytuna

Hey! Yes! I still want to sing it! I've been busy, so this nudge is nice. I still want to trim it down a little (thank you for being open to the idea), but I am really unsure of the grammatical correctness of the changes I'm making.

I'll try and trim it down for you if you want.

EDIT: There, I re-did the OP and tightened it up a bit so it should match the syllables (more of less) of the original song. Also, I fixed a few errors (wow, you learn a lot in a month, some of these errors were just baaaad).
