I quite like this song, so a few weeks ago I started translation into Na'vi. Here's result, I think it even could be sung with less or more problems, but original text has too many one-syllable words. If you see any possibility to improve it, let me know.
In red are marked places, where grammar must be bent to fit text into melody well, somewhere you must play with speed of singing, but it can work. I'd try myself, but can't find recording from which vocals can be removed completely (chorus can't be removed, meh). Also multiple voices are needed for echoes and background, so one person probably can't do that. Pitty

Here are the meanings of but. I'm sure it doesn't mean slä, unless it's said that it can be used for this meaning.
Also, I need someone else's opinion about peng pelun.

I see no problem with "peng pelun" or more literally "peng oer pelun".
As for slä, if I look at the German translation, it means indeed mungwrr, because "but" is meant as "except".

I really don't know why slä wouldn't be correct here. As it's definition in the dictionary is not limited, I expect it is correct. Another thing is that translation is more word-by-word, as better translation would get me completely out of song rhythm.
