New song released!
--> first post!

"Tutan akoak" ["The Islander" by Nightwish translated by me]

Kaltxì, ma Talis, pxay irayo especially for this song - it discovered Nightwish for me, so I listening to them nearly every day ! It seems this forum really is chang<eiy>ing my life  :)
But main reason of my posting is I've got stuck in my translation on fìsìpur word.
It appears to me as fì-sìp-ur this-???-dative, but I can't find any reasonable translation in the dictionary. Can you move meypa eltu oeyä into correct direction?

Well, I just discovered it too, my brain seems to be not so bad as I thought  :) , it's only slow :)
This is one of things which are great at Na'vi language - it makes you to think in different way than usual. Not easy, but exciting...

Please help me finish this! Translate my songs to English and German and send it to me via PM. I'll look it over and put it in here. I got no time for this now and only got the lyrics to all my songs nìna'vi.

Kaltxì ma eylan sìrolä,
I'd like to help Talis to translate Fpomä Samsiyu (last one not avalaible in English yet), but some parts are really hard to understand, probably some mistakes are here too, that's why opinion of the author and language experts is needed. So, let's try to translate and analyze together.

Fpomä Samsiyu
Warriors of the peace
----------------------
Fo hameieyn pxìm lok 'ora sì 'awmtxep,
They often sat near to lake and campfire
Fo namew rivey, fìfya nulnew.
They wanted to live, they preffered this way.
for mipa fya'o toìtseyä ke teya si set, (probably should be Toitsyeyä ?)
new way of Deutcheland don't fill them with joy now not sure if I understand it well
fo lu lelonu hu tìrol sì pamtseo.
They were released with song and music
Teri feyä tìlam fo ke lu spe'etu, (plural needed)
about their appearance - they aren't captives
fol, a luke tìkawng,  atokirina'it wamìntxu.
they without evil showed seed of sacred tree

R1: Lu sìltsan tsaw,
That is good
for lu tstew.
Why dative is used? If you want to say They are brave, it should be Fo lu tstew, if They have courage is meant, then it should be For lu tìtstew, I think

feyä eltur ke lu teri kawnga sawtute,
Their brains don't know (??) about bad sky people
feyä eltur ke lu teri tìzawng san tsam
Their brains don't know (??) about screaming "WAR!"
sìk. Lumpe atxkxe aysempulä lolatem?
Why father's land changed?
Frapol new tsamit ulte horenit ftem.
Everyone wants war and to pass by rules.
Set kem sivi, livonu eywa'evengit,
Now let do, let Pandora go
rä'ä fnivu ulte kllkxem nì'ul nì'it!
Don't be quiet and stand a bit more! (these 2 sentences are little strange, is it correct translation?)

R2: For lu tstew, They have courage
Lu sìltsan tsaw. That is good

R3: Kxawm tsakrr trray mipa sì lora ayhrr sngayä'i, (tsakrr doesn't fit well IMHO - what about krro (sometime) ?)
Maybe that time tomorrow a new and beautiful times will begin
kxawm trray kawnga tirea txopu si.
maybe tomorrow evil spirit will be afraid

tsatsengit tok tsamponguä skol sì ayswisawìl,
This place occupy bows and arrow of war group
ulte fra'u a tsun tspivang frapoti.
and everything what can kill everybody (weapons)
fo leykatem fratskot sì ayswizawit, fte sa'ul
They changed all bows and arrows to
kawkrr ke toltivem nìmun tuteoti.
never shoot anybody again
ulte aysyuvet olo'yä fol mamunge, (olo'ä ?)
and they brought food to clan
ay-neto-kä'ärìp-yu-ru zamamunge. (??)
plural-away-push-affix for agent deriving-dative brought. I have no idea how to put together into reasonable words...

R1: Lu sìltsan tsaw,
for lu tstew.

Fol nìtxur spamaw futa kawnga tsamit 'i'a, (missing glottal stop)
they strongly believed, that evil war ends
Fol spamaw futa ta kxu fko layu kanu.
they believed that from harm one will be smart (probably it means that people learn one's lesson from harm caused by war, but not sure...)
Fol nìtxur spamaw tsat, tengkrr kä ne kxitx.
they strongly believed that, while go to the death
Fol spamaw tsat, srekrr fkol takuk ayfoti.
they believed that, before one strike them
Ulte tsatxopu tìsrawyä längu ha txur,
And that fear of pain is so strong
fte fko kavuk sivängi sìltsana 'eylanur. (<iv> needed because of fte)
to one betray good friend.

tslolam nìltsan, understood well
tslolam nìltsan. understood well

R3: Kxawm tsakrr trray mipa sì lora ayhrr sngayä'i,
kxawm trray kawnga tirea txopu si.

Vay fìtrr kelora tsarel ke latängem,
Until today that unsightly picture don't change
Oe stum new pivängeng san nari si
I almost want to say "be careful"
sìk. Lu olo'eyktan kawnga uniltìranyu.
Clan leader is evil dreamwalker
hola sutel nulnew 'änsyema tsamit.
A few people prefer complete war
Slä oel kameie pxaya suteti, a
But I See many people, which
wìntxu nìtxantslusam tskot askawna'a!
show wisely destroyed bows!

tìtstew si, courage
tìtstew si! courage! or something like "be brave", not sure...

Ulte tsakrr trray mipa sì lora ayhrr sngayä'i,
And that time tomorrow new and beautifull times will begin
ulte trray kawnga tirea txopu si.
And tomorrow evil spirit will be afraid

Howgh. Now I'm awaiting words from experts....

Ma Blue Elf:

Quote

not sure if I understand it well

yea back then "toitsye" was not known :D
it's meant the way you translated it :)

Quotespe'etu (plural needed)
yea, but then it wouldn't fit the melody ;) It's lyrical freedom :D

Quotefol, a luke tìkawng,  atokirina'it wamìntxu.
they without evil showed seed of sacred tree

"they, who (are) without evil, showed the seeds of the sacred tree"

Quotefor lu tstew.
Why dative is used? If you want to say They are brave, it should be Fo lu tstew, if They have courage is meant, then it should be For lu tìtstew, I think

I think it was meant as "they have got braveness"  "sie haben mut" not sure... maybe just a mistake, maybe tstew was a noun back then but I can't remember that ;) ^^

Quotefeyä eltur ke lu teri kawnga sawtute,
Their brains don't know (??) about bad sky people
feyä eltur ke lu teri tìzawng san tsam
Their brains don't know (??) about screaming "WAR!"

hm yes this is the meaning of that.
They're brains don't have (something) about bad skypeople
They're brains don't have (something) about the scream "War"

Quotelet Pandora go
I think better: "free Pandora!"

sorry got no more time now. will look that over later.

Blue Elf

Ok ma Talis, can you please finish my text checking?

and... the next song will be released soon! :)

Blue Elf

Nì'i'a! One of good news in these days :) Can you post text also?

(BTW - I took a look at translations in first post, although are useful, appears to me as too literal. I think it is not good idea - anyone who have some basic knowledge of Na'vi grammar can create literal translation with dictionary. Better is to see correct version, to know what you wanted to say, it helps more in learning. Think about this, rutxe)

I had a go translating Krr a Txon'ong last night and I did both a literal and a more "free" translation. There were some strange words in the Na'vi, I've marked those with descriptions, could be just wrong thoughts on my side though.

Na'vi Lyrics:| Literal Translation:| Free Translation:
Krr a txon'ong nìmwey päheiem,| The time that the sunset arrives calmly,| When the sunset arrives calmly,
awnga heyng lok 'awmtxep 'awsiteng.| we sit close to the campfire together.| we sit close to the campfire together.
Txo ngal ngeyä eylanit ke kame,| If you don't see your friend,| If you don't see your friend,
naerit ke tìng eylanur. Tse...| don't give a friend a drink. Well...| don't give him a drink. Well...
'Ì'awn sengroa set terok.| Stay at the places that (you) are at now. | Stay where you are now.
Ayhufweru wrrpa lu tìtxur,| To the winds outside is strength,| The winds outside are strong,
slä atan si 'awmtxep mi satur,| but the campfire yet gives light to those people,| but the campfire yet gives light
a leru famtseotu.| that are musicians.| to the musicians.
Ayuk srew utralä ayrìkro.| The shadows dance at the leaves of the trees.| The shadows dance at the leaves of the trees.
Srake 'ia nga taweyk pamtseo?| Do you lose yourself because of the music?| Do you lose yourself because of the music?
Fìpo a fpìl, san tì'awpo kangay lu| This person that thinks "selfishness is not real",| He who thinks selfishness is a lie,
sìk, ye'rìn 'awtu nìtxan layängu.| will very soon be alone.|  will be alone very soon.
