By the way, does anyone else besides me find it useful?
Sure! How can you doubt?

Idea:
To me appears, that on this line one more syllable would simplify singing:
Wal - king  through a    dream, I       See  you
u  -  nil -            oe  -ran,   ngat   ka - me

I don't think I understand where oe is supposed to fit. ???

??? I think, usually, adding a syllable makes it a little awkward because of trying to match original rhythm and melody but having too many syllable.

Edit: exactly. Ninja point for Alyara

Ma Alyara Arati,

ok, try to explain:
in original, a is short, but dream is stretched nìhawng, so for me it is easier to put "oe" on place of a and "tìran" on place of dream. Otherwise I must stretch "ran" part, what is more difficult. I'd like to hear how Na'vi singer deal with this part.

I tried it sing on my way home and there aren't big problems (except part, where Leona finishes one stanza and chorus at the same time start another one - this can't be sung by single person) The same with red part - Leona sings together with chorus:
QuoteE  -  ver - more
nìl - ke  - ftang

(I    See me  through your eyes)
ka - me  oet ì   -   lä   nga

I    See me  through your eyes
ka - me  oet ì   -   lä   nga

(Li - ving new  life  fly  - ing high)
may' oel  tì - reyt, tsway - on oeng

Fly  -  ing high
tsway - on  oeng

I think it is just fine by stretching out tìran as "a dream" since stress of tìran is second syllable, and sentence stress is on dream. And having matching syllables is always nice. works for me :3

Yes, I was very careful to line up the stress.  I messed up a couple of times, but I have fixed all the emphasis differences that I have found so far. :)

Niri ordered the sheet music online. If we run into phoenetic difficulty we will contact you, Ma Alyara!

There is NO phonetic difficulty oeya yawnetu, I sang the entire song several times, and it is a piece of cake. I just need the sheet music to slightly transpose the chords to make them easier for you to finger on your Mandolin. I can do this WITHOUT changing the musical pitch of the voices by choosing complimentary chords, rather than mirror chords. From what I can hear, there are a lot of "Barred Fifths" in there, and that would be real tough for you to play.

I don't know about barred fifths   I doubt if I have ever played them.. It's those SEVENTHS that require a stretch for little hands.
BTW  The Na'vi have a stringed instrument called an i'en.  So it probably had only STRINGS (or less)

ULTE SRANE! And YES the syllabification will help once we start practicing this song.

:O I have just now noticed that not only do syllable counts match, but there is ALSO a good bit of rhyming going on! Wou! This is definitely the best attempt to date I have ever seen. +1 for being epic.

Blue Elf

So, I tried to sing with Leona (not recorded, I must train more) and it is just perfect! I have only problem on lines
tse lolu txe'lan atstu oer
sì tirea asyawnep

as I can't catch melody. But one person without chorus can't sing it - one can't sing two voices at the same time....
Anyway - tìkangkem afyole. Thanks again, ma Alyara!

Wow, how come I hadn't seen this post until now?
Txantsana tìkangkem, ma Aylara! I certainly agree that this is the best version we've had.
If I get my new microphone tomorrow I'll have a go at singing it. (In my most female voice of course... :-\)

Good luck ma Emibh. :D You're gonna need it. :)

IMHO without chorus it can't be sung by single person. But let him to give a try, every attempt is worth

Haha, I know it's quite high pitched at some points but I'll try to go as high as my voice allows me to.
I don't worry too much about fitting the lines in, I can just record them apart from each other and then place them together when editing.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to order the microphone today, but I will for sure order it tomorrow, it'll be delivered on Thursday and I hope to have the video uploaded late Thursday night or early Friday morning (that is in GMT+1 ;) ).

Eywa (ay)ngahu would be really nice if it would fit into the song.  I just don't see where to put it so that the syllables would match, and I worked very hard to arrange that. ???

But good luck if you want to try adding it to my lyrics or writing your own that would contain Eywa (ay)ngahu. ;)
