So, I've been messing around and decided to sing the song Sky Is Over by Serj Tankian in Na'vi. I had previously translated it (which can be found here) so if you want the lyrics they are there. Now, forgive my singing, I do NOT have a good singing voice and am moderately tone-deaf however I think it came out somewhat decent (you can at least listen to it without your ears bleeding). Also, note that this IS NOT a pronunciation guide by any means. I made plenty of pronunciation errors, some deliberate to match the song, and many unintentional. My main concern was making it sound good rather than correct.

The song, Taw Lu 'Em:

I used the instrumental version of the song and recorded the vocals over it. Here's a link to the original song (and a cool music video):

EDIT: Anyone who stumbles upon this should note that this song is VERY old and contains many, many errors as we didn't know then what we know now.

I liked it, but as you said not the best singer in the world. I think maybe you should try to get people to post themselves singing also and see who would be best.  8)

Yeah, it would be interesting, if anyone wants to sing it then have at it.

Dude. Wow, just awesome. Gotta say thats badass. While your not the greatest singer, your Na'vi makes up for it.

Very Impressive! I really like the song! Hearing someone singing in Na'vi is really great.

lol, thanks. Listening to it again though my Na'vi is sooo off. lol, it was fun to make. Though that middle bit where I'm speaking absurdly fast I actually got that right (I even got all the edjectives into atxkxe  8))

Na'vi is always easier to speak when you put real emotion into it. For those of you who don's have emotion, use fake Italian anger.

Glad you liked it, my singing is so horrible for that song since I have a naturally deep voice and doing anything above alto or baritone just makes my normally bad singing voice really crappy. Perhaps I'll do another Serj Tankian song but one that has a deeper voice.

Would you guys be interested in hearing this song?

Yeah, I think that one might be interesting to hear the shift in tone from sad to angry in Na'vi

Yeah, this one would pose some interesting problems linguistically but I'll give it a shot. Also, if anyone with a better singing voice want to do a song I can do a translation for them.

Can I ask for reupload of your singing? Seems, that link is dead. :)

Yes, that'd be great. :D I can't listen to it, either! :o

:o Oh, wow! I'm amazed (in a good way) that people are still finding this. I really need to try making some more songs, especially now that my voice skills and Na'vi pronunciation are so much better.

I'll try to remember to fix the link when I get home tonight. I have the song saved on my hard drive and I'll probably make it a YouTube video as well as post the mp3 file.

Edit: Never mind, I found the original song location and updated the link.... and....yeah. *Ahem*

GAH!!!!! I forgot how bad my singing was in this song! The recording did not come out that well, the vocals track is far too loud, and I'm SOOOOOO off key at parts. So embarrassed by this and I am totally going to try re-recording this tonight to see if I can improve on it.

GAH again! I just looked up the lyrics and they're SOOOOOO bad! I mean, I know that I made this over a year ago when I'd only known Na'vi for about 2 weeks, but still! Totally revamping this whole thing!

hehe So you're going to make a "new" version? :o Can't wait to heard that! :D
