Kaltxì!

A friend of mine (Hifkey'Tìranyu) composed this song. He played the guitar and I sung it.

Here's the file.

Here's the text.

Thanks for listening.

So impressive, I love it !! Karma for you !!

Irayo ulte Eywa ngengahu !
'Itan Atxur : Just remember, NO idea is too crazy <3

Then everything changed ... I fell in love. I fell in love with the - with the forest, with the Omaticaya people... with you...
Don't thank! You don't thank for this! This is sad... VERY sad only!

Muzer

That's awesome! I really need to get on hammering some Na'vi into my head so I can fully appreciate this! I've just about learnt most of the possible noun pre- and suffixes (certainly the most common ones), not including adpositions, but for some reason the verb infixes seem to be much harder to learn. And I haven't even started with vocab yet :/

I've learned the language by writing this Song^^
Glad to hear that you like it. Now I've got the motivation to go on and maybe to write an other one.

I've just tried to translate this to try to learn more Na'vi:

Some bits do sound a bit odd and I think I might have done them a bit wrong, but one line I got really confused on is "Ayoeng ke txasyìng fa tìtxey." - the "with halt (noun)" at the end. What would you get if you turned halt into a noun?

EDIT: Thanks Hifkey'Tìranyu, fixed this

[21:42:59] <@Muzer> now they are just expensive

Hifkey'Tìranyu

"Ayoeng ke txasyìng fa tìtxey" should mean something like:
"we will not abandon by giving up"

I have to excuse my terrible english, my mothertongue is german.
So i hope you understand what I mean.

to translate the whole text I need mor time^^

Muzer

Ah, yes, that makes sense! I was trying to think of a noun that could vaguely have the meaning of "to halt", that definitely fits!

When you open the link on the top, you can find the lyrics. And there are the chords too.
You have to use a capo in second Fret. Or you have to sing two half steps lower  ;)

Kaltxì, ma Talis. Great job, as usual. I'm creating a Czech translation just now, but I think there are some minor mistakes in the text:

  • afkeu -> should be afkew (mighty, adj.), I think
  • hayawnu -> what does it mean, can not be found in the dictionary. Shouldn't it be tìhawnu?  ... ulte hayawnutìhawnu atxkxeti = ... and protection to the land
  • tutean -> should be tutan, in song sounds correctly

Can you give me explanation? Irayo.
Oe lu skxawng skxakep. Slä oe nerume mi.
"Oe tasyätxaw ulte koren za'u oehu" (Limonádový Joe)

Look at when this was written ;) The time factor slowly starts to play a role in Na'vi ;) That's an explanation for the 'older' forms of fkew and tutan (we simply didn't know it back then).

hayawnu comes from hawnu => h‹ay›awnu
Is it clearer now? :)

'protection to the land' would imply at least a tìng ... in this case, atxkxe would get the dative marker -ru/-r instead of -ti ;) but 'will protect the land' is completely valid

Talis

Back then in the old days we weren't that good, I thing there are many mistakes, which we weren't aware of. ;)
