I had to do it, even though it's July.

Vosìve trrä ftxoza, ma yawne tìng oer...

vosing angtsìka
volpey nantang
vomun reltseotu
volaw tanhi
vol olo'eyktan
kìna tsamsiyu
pukap tsaheylu
mrr tskxo swizaw
tsìng palulukan
pxey pa'li
mune ikranay
sì 'aw skxawnga Tawtute!

In English
On the twelfth day of celebration, my loved one gave to me...

12 titanotheres
11 viperwolves
10 artists
9 stars/body markings
8 clan leaders
7 warriors
6 sacred bonds
5 bows and arrows
4 thanators
3 direhorses
2 forest banshees
and one moron Skyperson!

I am aware that many of the Na'vi words are not lenited, but I can change that if it makes too many people anxious.
"If there are self-made purgatories, then we shall all have to live in them."

I know this is necroposting...

Great! I like that song and right now it's the time of the year to sing it.
However... Besides some things have to be lenited I think skxawnga Tawtute is wrong.
In my opinion it should be skxawnga atawtute since you made skxawnga an adjective.

QuoteWhen you don't use lu, you must attach an -a- to the side of the adjective closest to the
noun it modifies.

Rain

Okay then, from now on anybody who wants to sing this must sing "sì skxawnga atawtute" because that's the correct form. Any and all other corrections are welcome!

But you put an -a- on the adjective and skxawng is a noun, so is tawtute.
I think it should be "sì 'awa tawtute leskxawng" :)

All the numbers are adjectives as well, and therefore you need an -a-.
example:
vosinga angtsìka
volpeya nantang

with pxe- and me- you combine the words:
pxefa'li
meikranay

Vosìvea trrä ftxozä, ma yawnetu tolìng oer...

Hehe I was thinking about doing this myself soon, I had no idea you were already on it in July :D awesome!

Some corrections:
[number]a trr ftozäyä, oey(ä) yawntu tìng oer(u). The letters in brackets might have to be dropped because of the number of syllables.

Skxawnga tawtute isn't wrong because of the -a-, it's wrong because skxawng is a noun and not an adjective. You could use snumìna tawtute instead ^^. Also, le- isn't productive, but maybe you can get away with leskxawng as an artistic thing.

Oh, one more thing: lenition rutxe :P

Rain

Feel free to re-write this as you feel neccessary, as I don't own the rights to the song "12 Days of Christmas" or the Na'vi language. I learn through correction. Also, I wrote this particular bit in July. I'm better now....I think. School has been kicking me in the butt and I haven't been able to study Na'vi as much.

Yeah, I know you wrote this ages ago, and you'd probably catch some of the mistakes yourself ^^ I just thought I might just as well correct this a bit instead of starting over. Makes my job easier ;)

Rain

It can be done, but it's a tongue-twister! Try it!
Thanks for the corrections btw

HAH! I want to try making one that's a little more syllable friendly but, regardless, nice find and nice song.

I told you all i did was correct it. i paid NO attentiont to rhyme scheme or syllables. i was hopin someone would do this as you say you are. this actually is a pretty old thread, but has become relevant hrh.

Rain

It's best to take it slow at first until your tongue's used to how the syllables run together lol. Otherwise, it becomes an absolute glottal mess ;D
