Artist = tseoyu? ["-yu" = "people who do things?']

Okay, in the Avatar 101 Role Play, my character is revealed to be a bit of an artist. I looked up art, which is tseo, and then looked up other types of word to describe people by their jobs. I found:

täftxuyu = Weaver
taronyu = Hunter
tsamsiyu = Warrior

So would it stand to reason that:

tseoyu = Artist?

Also, is "I do not understand" simply "ke tslolam"?

I imagine that it would work. As far as we know at least, since the suffix "yu" is kinda like "one who does." Or something along those lines.

Taronyu

Don't think it would work. Not tsamsiyu - you need the si there. That's because tseo and tsam are verbs.

use tseosiyu.

And yes, that is I don't understand.

ninja'd by taronyu grrr...

Yeah you need a si in there. Tseo is a noun for art whilst -yu turns a verb into someone who specialises in the verb. The solution? Turn tseo into a verb in between with si.

tseosiyu = maker of art.

as for I don't understand, I think the <ol> infix might be wrong, the lack of understanding is ongoing and so if anything it should be imperfective (<er>). Ke tslam is definitely correct though (you don't have to mark aspect).

Thank you all for your help. I didn't think the first thing I'd be doing with Na'vi in the RP was going all the way out and inventing a new word, but... well, it was dramatically correct!  ;)

So "Ke tslam" is "I don't understand", then?

What about "You don't understand." =  "Aynga ke tslam"?

Taronyu

ke tslolam is given in the survival guide list. It's what we use for all of our words. The <ol> prefix can imply completeness, as in , I totally do not get it.

Aynga would be you all.

kewnya txamew'itan

oh, my copy of the survival guide has just been ordered so I haven't seen that.

I stand corrected.

Aynga would be if you are referring to several people at least some of whom are in the room and being spoken to.

Sok. I don't think I included it in my dictionary because it's an obvious use of the infix.

My guide is still on a UPS truck somewhere.  :-[

So, I'm going back and looking at the other stuff in the on-line guide, and see again Hunter:

taronyu = Hunter

taron is 'hunt' as in, 'the hunt', yes? "I am going on the hunt" as opposed to "I am going hunting", if I understand correctly?

Should taronyu be taronsiyu on the website?  :-\

Coyote, taron is hunt as in the verb to hunt so no si is needed. A hunt would be tìtaron.

ma Taronyu, yeah there's no need for it to go in the dictionary,  it just never struck me before.
