It hasn't kept up with our better understanding of the language.  Some things are incomplete, and a few things are wrong.

Well then. Back to the Learn Na'vi wiki I suppose.

If you thought that was bad, Check this out.  I might call this an epic fail.

Another thought: why is it nothing ever seems to get stickied in this sub-forum?  Is it simply that it's not neccesary?

It wasn't that bad ma ll.sxkxawng, it's just that any learning resources has to be pretty much perfect, if you check the na'vi in a nutshell thread you'll see I did a massive list of errors I found in it, and there were probably more than in your thread.

Sran, but that was different: that was a learning resource.  This is a topic, like some others of this sub-forum, I hoped would earn a sticky.

Yet another thought: I see a few topics have gotten a sticky, but it eventually got removed.  The reasons appear to have been mentioned in the topics themselves, but this does not answer my initial question: why is it nothing ever seems to get or stay stickied in this sub-forum?

Probably because stickies in other subfora make more sense for affix-related topics.  Prefixes, infixes and suffixes encompass a pretty wide variety of functions: making new words, marking tense, marking case.  So, the "Na'vi Linguistics: Case" sticky encompasses a subset of suffixes along with their function.  It's hard to imagine any topic that applies equally well to the affixes taken together which would need stickification.

Pretty much what wm. said.  Perhaps it might even make sense just to merge this forum into syntax and grammar.

And as far as I am concerned, if something is sticky and presents some form of language information, it is a learning resource.  Being a learning resource does not require it be long, fancily formatted, a download, or anything like that.  It just must present some sort of useful, accurate, and non misleading information.

And if something is not a learning resource, it needs a really good reason to be stickied before it is done.

In your threads, you put it together as a learning resource. It presented some informationa about the language for others in an organized manner, so that is how it was treated by myself and others.  If you are willing to take the feedback, try to understand what is being said, and work it back into your post, it could perhaps meet the requirements.  However the base premise you are working off of (that there is a simple relationship between Na'vi and English concepts) is inherintly misleading, so the bar to overcome that is pretty high.

Might it be worth having a stickied topic with links to the different stickies elsewhere for use on affixes? That would mean that there was an easy place for people to find relevant information.
