In the Learn Na'vi pocket Guide, the prefixes and suffixes have a hyphen connecting the prefix/suffix to the root word.
For example: Na'vi-yä

However, I have seen people exclude the hyphen from the root word.
For example: Na'viyä

So, my question is: in the handbook, is the hyphen for demonstrative purposes only?

The same reason people use <> for infixes.
