So I should only prefix with "legit" prefixes (the ones with + after them ion Taronyu's dictionary)? Otherwise use distinct words?

Keke

I tend to look at the prefixes as special case patterns that we observe, not quite universal...think of in english:

we are the same way with suffixes. they are not completely productive or predictable:

good, better, best. not good, gooder, goodest.
but hot, hotter, hottest WORKS.

racer and racist are VERY DIFFERENT concepts even tho -er and -ist are usually the same: painter, artist. musician, not musicist or musicer.

also the adv of good is well, not goodly. and so on...so what im sayin here is dont worry too much about prefixes because most all the words you would need to put them on are in the dictionary with them already there.

the only prefix i would worry about are the ones for plural. they work on every noun.

what I love about Na'vi is the use of allomorphs, Pesu/Tupe, Peseng/Tsengpe, Peyfa/Fyape.  And the Question Phrases are relatively easy to remember.

What i LOVEEE about Na'vi is:

--No stupid gendered nouns i.e la puerta, le chapeau and such...remembering the nonexistent gender of nouns and making everything agree...LAME. and na'vi doesnt have it. WOOT!

--No words for a/the...so simple.

--No verb conguation for person i.e I am, you are, he is,...oe lu, nga, lu, poan lu...so simple!!!

THE SIPMLICITY of this language...is amazing. (to me at least :3)

Hi Guys,

Friday 9th July's lesson is at 8pm as usual.

I don't know which of you are coming to class this Friday but I have been told the subject and I am writing (have written first draft of) a document that will support the lesson and will also (lucky you) form the basis for the next homework assignment :)

This week's homework is a 30 to 40 word introduction to be written in Na'vi as best you can and I will ask some of you to read your introduction. I won't be asking everyone because some of you are understandably nervous about speaking the language ... just bear in mind that that is why we are doing it and that Na'vi is primarily a spoken language not written. The introduction should be short (as I say above 30 to 40 words) and should include your name (real name or handle), age (years), location (where you live), your Na'vi experience (in days I guess since Na'vi currently has no concept of weeks or months) and what you hope to gain by learning the language. Remember the acronym KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid ... "Si'u Ftue Skxawng"? HRH) and, although you should feel free to use English where there is no Na'vi equivalent, you should try to use Na'vi sounds (for example there is no "b", "c" or "d" in Na'vi ... I guess you'd use "p", "k/s",  or "r" respectively as they are fairly close). Things to remember ... the Na'vi, when specifying numbers, tend not use plurals so you wouldn't say you were "mevosìng ay-zìsìt koak"(20 years old) you would be more likely to say "oe lu mevosìng" (I am 20).

I have also been asked by one of my class to focus on real Na'vi conversation so, given time after the Prezi lesson and follow up is complete we'll try and do some of that ... on the plus side that means we probably won't have time to too many Intros so we may spread that out over several weeks :)

Hopefully you'll turn up and maybe this time we'll have, "nì’ul ay-numeyu haryu to", HRH.

I'm sooo sorry. But with you changing the date from friday to thursday I'll miss another lesson this week. (It's my boyfriend's birthday on thursday.) But in general I like the change, because on Fridays I can visit my friends better like that. :)
So. Will there be another lesson until next week? Maybe on Monday or thursday?

At the moment I'm visiting Teamspeak Ngaynume most weekday evenings but that's not really a lesson, more a review :)

I will be around on Friday this week (13th) but Kekerusey won't be.  I can go over whatever happens on Thursday again on Friday if that will help.
