No. My app doesn't use anything called WhiteSmoke.

Did you click on an ad for another application? Mediafire is known for stuffing ads for other software in your face. You're the second person to say something about other software...

I'll find a new file host for 0.2.6.

My app doesn't need any installation. If the app you downloaded has an installer, you didn't download the right program. Avatray needs no installation...it comes in a zip file.

OME I just died that is the coolest thing in the world!

Edit: just an idea for it, I see you have the dictionaries and NiaN but what about the skxawng.lu emails?  I think that'd be something good to put in there :)

What should the link point to, the webmail client?

To all: 0.2.6 is coming out later tonight.

is there a way to make it show how many if any messages you have in your inbox, then you click on that and it brings you to the web mail client? Tho I imagine that would take a LOT of work.

Tsufätu Ayioangä

Yea.  The place where we log in.

Also, I tried using it to get to the forum and it said that the 'http://forum.learnnavi.org' application was not found.

OK. This'll be in 0.2.7 (which, if I get the time, may come as soon as tomorrow :P )

What browser are you using? Try setting up the Alternate Launching options for URLs.

I just searched for POP3 support libraries. The "new messages" count is actually implemented in the client (which means more work for me to add it :( ) It would go well with the above login link idea though.

Use IMAP, that is what the webmail client uses, and getting the unread message count is easy, it's done by the server.

I would, but there's no IMAP library available. :(

Rewrite it in another language.
I could do something in VB...

Not going to happen. The language it's in is the only language I know. :( Besides, it doesn't make sense to rewrite an entire application just because one thing isn't supported (especially when there are usable alternatives).

I'm now looking to making at least a barebones IMAP lib...checking the mail in telnet with IMAP took 3 commands.

IMAP is reasonably easy to make a library for...
What language would that be?

Agreed. In the 12 minutes since that post, I've already gotten it logging in :) Two more functions, and I'll have a mail count check working (just need to get it to issue the ". STATUS INBOX (unseen)" and "LOGOUT"...).

You may laugh at this...AutoIt3 :P It isn't a "real language", but it isn't useless either. I've written 2 full-blown applications in it (3 if you count Avatray) and countless other little tools (batch script apps, file downloaders, etc.).

EDIT: ...my test program is checking mail via IMAP :) Expect a mail notifier in 0.2.7 or 0.2.8 :D

0.2.6 is released :)

Major changes:
* Download isn't on that advertising-supported file host anymore. Now a direct download from skxawng.lu
* Double-clicking the tray icon opens the forums.

AutoIt is quite useful actually :)
Can you make your imap library support SSL? Gmail needs it. Also, can you make the url for the webmail configurable?

Not likely :( There is a horribly incomplete POP3 SSL library, but its development was abandoned in 2008, and the download has since been removed.

Avatray can already check Gmail by using Stunnel.

I'll add options to allow configuration of IMAP server, tray item name, and webmail URL. Stunnel will be required if you want Gmail (or other IMAPS email) support.
