After reading about the A Midsummer Night's Dream project and seeing I was a little late for a role, I thought I'd start my own independent translation project. I was looking through my books and narrowed it down to Animal Farm, The Stranger, and Slaughterhouse-Five. Animal Farm was my first choice, but there are a few parts that rely on rhyme which could be problematic.

I'm well aware this will take quite a while, but it should be worth the time if I complete it. Opinions?

If you still want to translate a part in A Midsummer night's dream, you could defiantly still attempt the translation of one of the parts, but your lines would be considered 2nd , unless they haven't submitted anything in the next month or 2, or if one of their translated lines is considered incorrect during the editing process etc...

If all the lines are submitted, couldn't the errors be found in editing and simply corrected instead of replacing them?

It depends if all of the lines get submitted... but that isn't the only problem that you can run into while editing the piece, the lines can be interpreted differently depending on the person, there could be a sentence that wouldn't make much sense, but someone else could have interpreted it correctly... etc. Having multiple translations would make it easier to know which parts are correctly translated.

I would wait for some more grammatical rules and vocabulary to be disclosed. The LAST thing you would want to do is translate it using what we know, and then need to revise it after we learn something.
Just my opinion.

What you need is a rhyming dictionary. :D

Could be a cool project. Are you going to replace the animals with Pandoran equivalents - just for giggles?

I loved that book in high school.

It would be a fun project.

Ooh swapping the animals, I hadn't thought of that. :D
