So, the deadline to have a first draft of the song was supposed to be tomorrow but it appears that everyone, myself included, was too lazy/busy. Probably has something to do with this being finals week for most of you college types.

Anyway, changed the deadline to next Saturday (15th of May), I might give it one more bump if that's still too soon but I don't want to keep putting it off so PLEASE (talking to myself here as well) try to get a first draft (or even just a stanza) done by next weekend. If just one or two people do the song it's really not going to be anywhere as near as good as it could if we had a whole bunch of people providing ideas.

So, yeah, that's basically it.

P.S. It's Skxawng's birthday today, go make fun of him.

We already have all of these good phrases, so- what do you want us to do?  :D

Take the phrases and make stanzas out of them. Then take those stanzas and make a whole song out of them. Best song wins :P

So we all gonna make our own songs? ???

Yes, and the best songs/best sections will be our first draft(s). We will then take the best parts from those and combine them into one final song which we will then edit and tweak. That will hopefully be the finished lyrics then. Music and video will be recorded and added along with singing the lyrics. That's basically it.

Le'eylan

Oh, I get it! ;D
I thought we were going to make one together, so I was waiting for instructions :D

Yay then! I'll get started!!

Well, that kind of round-table discussion would be preferable but, as it's hard to get us all in one place at one time, I figured this was easier on everyone and allows everyone's ideas to be heard.

Oh, and btw, I want you all to be aware that, since this is a group work, don't be afraid to take a line from someone's song/stanza that they posted and, please, don't be offended if someone takes one from you. The end result is what really matters.

Ok, so now we're supposed to make verses that contain the following lines somewhere:

QuoteLu yawn(e) na'rìng - (I) Love the forest
Lu yawn(e) oer txampay - I love the ocean
Lu yawn unil si - (I) Love to dream
Lu yawn oer keye'ung - (I) Love insanity
I love the mountains (need a word for mountains)

right? (Might wanna put those in the first post so we don't have to search for em in the middle of the thread, or count above which lines got the most votes.)

Let's see, the rhyming scheme is..
QuoteX (5 syllables)
A (6 syllables)
X (5 syllables)
A (6 syllables)
"I love the whole world"
A
With all the A rhyming and the X not rhyming with anything. This means we gotta remember that that last line after the "I love the whole world" should actually also rhyme with the second and fourth lines.

So for example...

Lu yawn oer txampay - I love the ocean
Lu yawn oer unil si - I Love to dream (why leave the "oer" away? It fits to the melody here)
Lu yawn oer sanhì - I love stars
Sì swiräyä 'evi - and baby animals
Lu yawn oer kifkey - I love the world
a tseng oe kelku si - In which place I am at home

Now once again: wouldn't it be something to discuss now, how we translate the "I love the whole world" part? Shouldn't that be the same for all verses? I just did my own version above for now, but I guess it can be exchanged. Same thing with the boom de yada. Not sure we should use kxangangang, cause wouldn't that take away too much of the signature of the song?

Lu yawn kewong seng - I love strange places (can you use kewong like that?)
Lu yawn oer swayonyu - I love flyers (could be birds or planes. Dunno, is that too loose?) or else Lu yawne oer tswayon = I love to fly
Lu yawn keye'ung - I Love insanity
Lu yawn oer rusey lu - I love to be alive
Lu yawn oer kifkey
Tìreyyä 'ìheyu - the spiral of life OR Lu yawne oer fra'u - I love everything

(What I haven't covered yet of the above are "Lu yawn(e) na'rìng - (I) Love the forest" and "I love the mountaints". I'll see if I have more time later..)
Ayoe lu aysamsiyu a plltxe "Ni" !
Aytìhawnu ayli'uyä aswok: "Ni", "Peng", si "Niiiew-wom" !

Some of the words don't really have the right rhyming pattern, but after some adjustments, it would be awesome!

Oooo! Nice! This is really excellent. Props for giving us a good place to start. I'm a little drunk right now so I'll give a more insightful opinion later. :)

Dear Ftiafpi, I know you want the intro skit to be nìÌnglisi, since you mentioned it in one of your first posts. But is it OK to consider having it nìNa'vi with subtitles? I am taking a crack at it here, JUST for fun:

Astronaut 1: It never gets old, huh?
fko kawkrr slu spuwin, srak?
it(unspecified agent) never become old, srak?
it never becomes old, yes/no?

Astronaut 2: Nope.
kehe. (Do we have any "slangy" "nope" yet? haha)

Astronaut 1: It kinda makes you want to....
tsaw-ìl n<eyk>ew fko-ti...
it-ERG want<CAUS> one-ACC
it (specific, that fact) causes you to want...

Astronaut 2: Break into song?
px<iv>or ulte r<iv>or?
explode<SUBJ (because it is part of "want to..."> and sing<SUBJ>
explode and sing
How about explode into song: pxivor nemfa tìrol. Or explode with song: pxivor fa tìrol.
Another option: doesn't it cause you to feel singingly? 'efu nìtìrol?!
Easiest: Doesn't it make you want to sing? Then it would just be rivor.

Astronaut 1: Yep.
Sran.
yes(colloquial)

(fist bump)

It's definitely something we should discuss, I don't think we can do the astronaut bit because it would involve clips from discovery channel which I'm not sure we can do legally. In any case, I'm definitely open to opinions on the intro and the three options I think are best are 1) nìNa'vi nì'aw 2) English with Na'vi subtitles 3) English only.

Txantsan! This is great! You've really done a good demo of how this could sound, even acapella it sounds great! Hopefully this will get more people off their txìm and writing lines (myself included, I have some written down but nothing like a complete song).
