Here is the list of ambiguously or flexibly countable ASG words:
Not applicable:
  • 'Ìnglìsì (English language)
  • Fmawn (news)
  • Taw (sky)
Suspected flexibility:
Used in both ways on Na'viteri:
  • Meuia (honor)*
  • Pam (sound)*
  • Ral (meaning)*
  • Tìkin (need)* (Na'viteri confirmed this)
  • Tìrey (life)*
  • Tskxe (rock)*
  • Txep (fire)*
Other:
  • Tseo (art) (barely on Na'viteri)
  • Tskxekeng (exercise)
  • Txum (poison) (is "kind of poision" the countable one?)
No idea:
  • 'Ok (Remembrance) (only one example sentence)
  • Tsam (war) (all Na'viteri examples seem to be countable?)
  • Txopu (fear) (All examples are in "txopu si" or "txopu sleyku")
  • Wutso (dinner, served meal) (there are examples on Na'viteri, but I still have doubts for its countability)
Not enough context on Na'viteri:
  • Äie (spiritual vision)*
  • Fpeio (ceremonial challenge)*
  • Kìte'e (service)*
  • Telem (cord)* (txurtel (rope) is derived from it, blurring the countability)

If you have any improvements or suggestions, LMK :)

Updates:
  • 'Ìnglìsì (English language), fmawn (news) and taw (sky) are put into a separate N/A list
  • Ral (logical/literal meaning) seems to be used as both countable and uncountable on Na'viteri
  • Tsam (war) seems to just ambiguous or countable contexts (no example is explicity uncountable)
  • Txopu (fear) is only seen as part of txopu si (be scared) or txopu sleyku (frighten)
  • The u/ù list has fnetxum (kind of poision) as a separate word, suggesting txum (poison) is not countable

Given I searched Na'viteri for examples, should I remove the nouns that are used in both countable and uncountable contexts on Na'viteri before sending the list to Pawl? :-\

Toliman

That is a question, maybe I would send rather all items :)

Txonpay

I could put them in a separate list.  I'll edit my post to show what that would look like :)

Separate list, that is good idea :)

Hmm.  I realized 'Ìnglìsì is listed as a normal noun in Fwew.  Should it be a proper noun? :-\

Hmm, I am not sure but maybe yes :)

Txonpay

We decided it's a good idea to make it a proper noun given Reykunu also does so.

Also, I just emailed Pawl the list of ambiguously countable ASG words (with the new segregation based on how the words show up on Na'viteri) :D :D :D

Yeah, good idea :)

I got an email back from Pawl 2 hours ago! :D He thanked me for the continued maintenance of the language, said he will take a close look at the suggestions as soon as he can, hopefully in the next few days, and he didn't want me to think he was ignoring me.  I told him that if he's busy, I completely understand. :)

Last night, I consolidated the spreadsheets and sent the new one to Pawl (for all of you at home, the updated copy available on the same spreadsheet link).  That meant adding the unclear ASG nouns and the modified definitions based on known information.  Also tweaking the misc. questions (though I did not include questions from comments on the Leap Day 2024 post) :)

And he replied! :D He said the consolidation is useful, will type the responses in the spreadsheet and send it back (when he has time and in multiple sittings kezemplltxe).  If there's anything significant he wants to share with the community, he will put it in an upcoming blog post.  If he shares the updates with me, I will start a thread in language updates. 8)
