I just hooked up.  I tried to get Kelutral going with boinc,  but it is whining that perl is too out of date.  I hate upgrading perl.

Actually, I can't get the BOINC client to compile for Kelutral.   :(

What OS using the Kelutral? :-\

FreeBSD.  The BOINC client tries to add a bunch of X11 dependencies, event though the machine is a server. One of them is failing with some code error that I do not want to get into.

I'm not sure, but may this page help:
BOINC on FreeBSD

Quotego to /usr/ports/net/boinc-client/, open the Makefile in a text editor
   change the CONFIGURE_ARGS=--disable-server as follows:
       on 32 bit FreeBSD change it to
       CONFIGURE_ARGS=--disable-server --with-boinc-platform=i686-pc-freebsd --with-boinc-alt-platform=i686-pc-linux-gnu
       on 64 bit FreeBSD change it to
       CONFIGURE_ARGS=--disable-server --with-boinc-platform=x86_64-pc-freebsd --with-boinc-alt-platform=i686-pc-linux-gnu
   do make install clean
   if you receive an error like "ELF 0 ....", make sure you have installed
       /usr/ports/emulators/linux_base-fc4 or higher
       sysctl kern.elf32.fallback_brand=3
The effort is still big...

Toruk Makto

  Yeah, I have been through all that. The port is still trying to install a bunch of X11 stuff that I don't want on Kelutral. I am not going to spend a lot more time on it since it was more of a test anyway.

  I have another FreeBSD machine I spun up as a testbed and that thing is spitting computation errors with error codes that apparently nobody has ever seen before (3 and 8). Seems that FreeBSD is just not sufficiently supported to make it worth the effort.

It seems that Seti website is not available. The project downloads no longer work, too. :(

Apparently the project is being moved from the labs to a real data center and will be unavailable until Friday.

BTW, I got the FreeBSD machine to work!
