Good to have you on-board blueme. I'm no linguistics expert but I also have a good ear and a decent understanding of IPA.

1) Doing your observations off of seabass's vocab should be fine, those links always go to the newest version of the spoken words so that should be fine. They might lag behind a bit on adding new words but that should matter.

2 and 3) Yes, I agree we have some gaps in our pronunciation knowledge and particularly there are words that we don't know what the correct syllabic breakdown in. Probably the most obvious example is in the movie Neytiri pronounces "mawey" not as "mm-ow-eh-y" (maw-ey) but rather as "mm-ahh-w-eh-y" (ma-wey). I try to avoid words where the syllabic breakdown is either unknown or isn't obvious but I'm sure there are plenty of words that I've done and will do that could go different ways. However, if you do feel a word should go one way or another please let me know.

'ampi: yeah, I understand completely how to do the words beginning with a glottal stop but the actual practice of saying it is somewhat difficult for me. I can do some words fine (such as 'evang I believe is the other word I've done so far) but 'ampi is a little hard for me. I'll do it over and get it right.

Blueme, as the other person who has been lending much of a voice to this (Temporarily on hold thanks to being a little sick ) I look forward to your feedback as well.  I am not a linguist by any stretch so I can only work off what I think is correct.  It may seem like I was being a bit argumentative with kawng mungeyu, but I was just trying to understand, because I can't correct my pronunciation if I don't understand how it is wrong.

I've listened to these audio files for almost 5 hours now, while driving to and from work.  There have been a few words that didn't quite sound right to me, so I just would like to verify with the community on this.

Aynga - It sounds like Ayn-ga, where the ng gets split.  There is no g sound listed in the phonetics guide only ng, so should it be pronounced Ay-nga instead? 

Krr - Sounds like hrr.

Eywa - The Ey sounds more like E y than Ey. 

I think there may be a few others but I can't remember which ones I may be forgetting.  These audio clips have been really helpful in making my work commute more productive...

You are correct, it should be ay-nga, it will be fixed.

Well, everything seems to have fixed itself on it's own overnight. Also, if you notice, I'm now not picking random words but trying to get all the high usage words out of the way so if you have a word that you see all the time but can never seem to remember it let me know and I'll add it.

But I have a small question – are you sure about your pronunciation of words hrrap and teya?

I think I hear something like te-eya rather then teya, and harrap instead of hrrap...

Gah, no idea where that weird glottal stop and another 'e' came from! That will definitely be fixed. You are totally correct that that one is wrong.

As for hrrap, it's going from the 'h' to the 'rr' that seems to be making that slight 'a' sound. It's very faint but I can hear it too, I'll fix that as well.

Ftiafpi, I just picked up a Blue Snowball mic and have been running tests with it, it has no noise and the voice quality is superb. I will attach a test MP3 when I get home but for now I would like to say that I would definitely enjoy contributing and even wouldn't mind rattling off all 500 words because I could use the voiceover practice as I wish to do that professionally as a side job.

Okay... here are my test files I threw together. Keep in mind It's 3:13AM and I'm still a beginner at Na'vi so my gutteral stops and rolling Rs need practice. The ejective, however is purposely a little low to match Norm's.

Using the cues below I tried to replicate Norm's Greeting:
"May the All Mother smile upon our first meeting." translated as "'awve ultxari ohengeyä, nawma sa'nok lrrtok siveiyi."
