Kaltxi ma frapo, ma oeya soaia
Ma oeya tsmukan, ulte ma oeya tsmuke

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Tstewa Ikrantsyip, which easily translates into 'Little Brave Ikran' (with the ultimate help from a good friend, Tirea Aean)
The first thing I'm going to say about this post is that it's a sleeper. I'm creating this post as a notification for a future project which will then be locked until the correct time to begin these rather tedious project.
For those of you who wish to comment, this post will be left open for a week, free to all and their opinions, this can be thanks to the wonderful advice of another Na'vi friend, ma Vawmataw.

The second thing I'm going to explain is the inspiration for my idea.
I know it's slightly confusing, but keep on reading and It'll start making sense soon.

At my school, in my communitee and within my own family, I know a large amount of sensory deprived persons, people with disabilities such as
-   Blindness
-   Deafness
-   Missing limbs
-   Mental conditions
You get the idea.
My point being that a few days ago I had an epiphany, this is due to a very sad post concerning the loss of a beloved big-cat name Nikolai, written by the Na'vi 'Eylan Ayfalulukana.
The epiphany being that I realised it wasn't just the physical traits humans and Na'vi share, but also our emotional and psychological bonds to animals both wild-life and companion.
This can be seen in the comment I wrote in this persons posts, which I've quoted below (In case you don't understand what I'm trying to say)

QuoteNikolai was generally always a happy cat. He would go out of his way to greet you when you walked up to the enclosure. With some people, he would actually get excited (like our male lion Kenya (the one in my avatar pic) does with me. But as we are a zoo, and do not have full-time animal trainers, no one goes in with the big cats. But they can be safely contacted through the fence by the keepers, and we encourage this kind of contact (after you are trained how to safely do it!). Cats of all sizes are tactile creatures, and this touching is very important to then socially and emotionally.

If you raise these cats (especially lions, tigers, cougars and cheetahs) in a good environment, and hug them regularly, they will come to expect this and want to be hugged. Even if you don't hug them, they will often hug you in greeting. As Tìtstewan pointed out, you see this when Kevin Richardson interacts with his lions. Although what Kevin does with his lions is exceptional, it is not unique. Because of their social nature, lions are more amenable to this kind of contact. Here in the US, you can see this kind of full contact work at places like the Lion Habitat Ranch in Las Vegas, and T.I.G.E.R.S. in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

I apologise If I offend with this comment, due to this comment not entirely being connected to this subject...
but to me, in my opinion, this same relationship theory could be applied to the animals of Pandora.
now that I think about it, there are a group of animals on Pandora such is the Ikran, and dire-horse, that touch, and a connection, whether emotional or psychological, seems to be the foundation for the relationship between them and the Na'vi tribes-people...

I just wanted to say, I love that there can be such connections between animal and person and that these inter-specie relationships will be important in the future.
it may sound silly, but thank-you for enabling me to see that.
that's all..

Anyhow, I thought to myself 'suppose that humans and Na'vi shared more than that as well, such as genetic traits which could lead to the same medical shortcomings that humans currently experience such as blindness and deafness, (hence the comment about the people at school and in the community)
My overall point being this. After lengthy deliberation and careful thought, I wish to begin another project, not right now of-course, because I can't handle it, but in the future, (hopefully soon) after I've finished the current project I'm working on. "The Mega Na'vi Booklet"
The project would overall be this:
It would revolve around the possibility of sign language (and maybe in 4 or 5 years, once the community has grown and evolved, Braille)..... for Na'vi.
I know it sounds crazy but we've translated Na'vi in German and chinese and a large selection of other languages, sign language would simply be one more language. This would be for the people who love the movie Avatar and who love the Na'vi and wish to be part of the community, but who can't watch tutorial videos and who can't listen to words and who can't interpret whats going on, or what's being said, because 1. They are deaf and 2. Because there is no translation for Na'vi, currently anyhow.

I wish to change this. The entire point of this post is to say, I wish to find a way to translate Na'vi into sign language so that many people around the world, who cannot enjoy Avatar and Na'vi to it's fullest, will be able to. I wish to create Na'vi sign language.

After I graduate in 6 months, I have the intent to learn the full Na'vi language and then learn the full sign language as well, after I graduate. This is because I wish to (At least partially) help to head this project if it's not too presumptious of me.

I haven't considered all the details yet, but what I believe it will include, at least at the start is multiple videos being created, resembling that of Tirea Aeans audio dictionary, only videos, not MP3 and Sign language version.

I know it's a lot to take in, and the inspiration has just hit me, but I'm filled with such excitement. Good or bad, I really want to know the communities opinion.

I think that this sounds like a great idea, but also like a looooot of work, heh.
I can imagine this would be great, having a sign language translator who stands in front of a Na'vi class together with Karyu Pawl (Avatar meetup), translating everything he says, so that everyone, even the deaf, can understand everything. Wonderful.

I don't know how sign language works (always wondered, though), like... if sign language is universal or if every language (English, German, Japanese, Chinese, and so on) has its own sign language...

If you are talking about translating Na'vi into sign languages, I would gladly volunteer for American Sign Language (at least to an extent, I'm not exactly a certified interpreter or anything.  I can get by).

If you're talking about creating a Na'vi sign language...good luck.  I'm sure I'll have some witticisms prepared to either help or hinder you when you get to that project.

There are a lot of different sign languages.  American, Russian, Irish, lots and lots and lots, each with its own grammar and rules and, obviously, signs.

But standard sign language(? don't you mean alphabet?) is just method how to write letters by signs, so there should be translation into English in sings, into German in signs, simply into any supported language. So for every languages we could get two dictionaries - first in written letters, second in signs, isn't it? Or am I missing something?
If you intend to create one universal sign language, it would be something like esperanto, I think...

I don't think I could have created Na'vi sign language if I was born one of the tribes.
but no, this project is translating Na'vi into sign language which is difficult enough.

because as we know there are signs for
- letters
- words
- sentences

I have no idea how I'm going to begin this. which in a way I'm glad it won't be started for a while. but at the same time, I'm excited to try and this will need a group of people to get it done.

In 5 years? :o Well, it takes time to create a language.

I would go with words and sentences (simple sentences, like Oel ngati kameie). It's not useful to spell ''run, there's a palulukan'' when it's about to run towards you.
Also, I hope it will not be based on ANY human sign language... because they are not humans.
