Kaltxì Palulukan!

Hey hey kids!  :D

V-day is coming to Pandora in less than two weeks, and you know what THAT means!

It's time for the first-ever Write your own Na'vi valentine's Day Card contest!**

That's right! Write your sweetie a romantic Na'vi card and win a prize! Three categories:

1: Beginners (no grammar Nazis allowed!)
2: Grammar Nazis ONLY--I expect sappy love poems like I see in different threads.
3: Everyone else.

The idea is to give everyone a chance to win (a stupid prize--void in states where prohibited, blah, blah, blah). All you need to do is to think of what you want to put on a card. It can be as simple as "Happy Valentine's Day mommy!" Of course you can use the word "Valentine, or Valentine's" in (your native tongue), unless our dear professor Frommer surprises us with an "official" word.

Please do this, have fun with it, and post YOUR entry (no limit on entries, but please be fair to the beginners and only post in YOUR area of knowledge). Deadline is Feb 15th--because men forget V-Day until it is over, so you can sneak one in on the 15th and pretend it was "on time."

Here's how to do it: Grab your favorite Na'vi dictionary (remember we even have rhyming dictionaries! <---click there) and scribble out a few lines to make your spouse, relative, or "desired mate" instantly realize how wonderful you are because you omum Na'vi! When you post your entry, please make sure the first words are: BEGINNER (or) EXPERT (or) EVERYONE ELSE.

As to the prizes, you can win one of my crappy books (I publish 6 or 7 of them--I lost count) or twenty bucks! Only three prizes in total will be given, one per category--unless someone else kicks in some loot. Judges decisions ARE FINAL. I may ask a mod to help me judge impartially as I hate romance, love, kittens, puppies, and all things happy, cute, or silly ever since my ex-girlfriend dumped me for Jake Sully. Please help spread the word. This is our first (unofficial--not affiliated directly with FOX, RDA Inc, the website LearnNavi.org or its global affiliates). Let's make this the Na'vi-est (Na'vi-yä?) Valentine's--EVER!!

**Yes, yes, I know. I am an evil, demented individual whose psychological stain needs to be eradicated from the face of the Earth. No one should have to voluntarily endure the horrors of Valentine's Day, but at least here you can win some scratch, or swag, for sharing your embarrassment with people who need a good laugh.

Okay, so the old podcast is here: https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/radioavatar It was goofy fun that ended too soon, but we had creative people. I hope we can get a new gang together (interested? PM me, let's make some magic!)
(Very old, outdated) Na'vi FUN activity book is here: But what are you doing? Let me know! :)

I take it people can't enter in the grammar nazi and everyone else category as well?

The no limit on entries thing, that means I can enter as many times as I want right?

Might it be a good idea to include audio clips so people can hear the rhythm and the rhyme more or might that unfairly advantage people with nice voices/good pronunciation?

Lastly, should I post it here or PM it to avoid accidentally 'inspiring' other people?  :P

All I am saying is that if you are one of the super smart kids, please don't make the rest of us dummies (I speak only of myself--and my ego) look completely bad by entering EVERY category. I am trying to make it fair for those of us who are not poetic geniuses. And I know there are some people here who can do literary acrobatics in Na'vi already.

:-\  (um... I know how to say, "duck"!, but for the longest time I thought it quacked)

mmm.. audio is good--worth bonus points. Inspiring other people. hmm.. No, I think we need to embarrass ourselves publicly. If someone follows up with something that looks too close to what someone has already done, I will know. Besides, I just want to have some fun, and I am willing to invest 60 bucks of my own money if we can have a little fun around here.

I say "bring it on!" I want submissions! But I think I will have a female judge, as I hate everything (except Hello Kitty).

It's all fair game; rhyming, non-rhyming, sentimental thoughts, but a Na'vi haiku might earn extra chips.

Okay, I will add an entry, not because I can win my own money, but so that no one else is afraid of sounding dumb and cheesy

Okay--I just can't do this any more. I am choking on my own estrogen. Time to go shoe shopping.

Entering in the Beginner's category... I feel like my grammar is wrong on this, so if there's any mistakes, let me know. (Specifically Ikranl. I don't know if that's allowed... also my verb usage is probably a little off.)

THIS is why I made this thread (and the beginner's section). Bravissimo!

Does that imply that my grammar is wrong? Neither of you noted any problems specifically, but if they're there could you correct them? I don't want to be thinking I'm doing things the right way if they're actually wrong!

kewnya txamew'itan

I'm not sure whether kaltxì palulukan would like me helping people with grammar but I have no objections to helping you (although I will wait for his response first).

Since my B-day is the day after Valentines day we should do birthday cards as well! They don't have to be for me, but it'll be a fun project for people.
