The timeout has to be somewhere on your end.  The longest I see a request taking on my end is 700ms.  (On appspot, if the app instance is idle it offloads it to save resources, and it takes an extra half second to start it again next request that comes in.)

It's not you, it's skxawng.lu. I think something changed at skxawng.lu in the middle of April (around when I started noticing poor speeds and errors). I first noticed it as a performance issue with the countdown bars.

Good news is that the (infrequent) timeouts are a non-issue due to the cache.

Also, I did some more speed testing tonight on skxawng.lu (the board was almost desolate): 162ms round-trip, 5% loss...much better than Monday afternoon's results.

I'm preforming server maintinace tonight so the servic might be jumpy for a few hours.

For those wondering why these aren't working: Something stopped working on Haxalot's server shortly after 9pm EDT. The issue appears to be related to server inability to access certain external resources such as the feed needed for these bars.

As of this posting, it's been down for about 5 hours. The NWOTD feature in my new sigbar tool is also affected.

Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Luckily, it was a problem I've had before; that the IPv6 functionality suddenly disappears and causes timeouts whenever you are trying to reach a host with IPv6 support, which both Google.com and appspot have.

I have no idea if this is possible but could these bars be created in other languages as well? The dictionary is being translated in several languages so the data base must exist somewhere, kefyak? I am a skxawng when it comes to technical stuff like this.

There is no database on my end. What you see on my graphics is what Puvomun posts on twitter. In order for these to be made available in other languages, Puvomun would need to publish them on a second twitter feed with definitions in another language.
