Pum-Ti-A-Ta Tìrol NìNa'vi

Zola'u nìprrte' frapoya to the 2nd phase of the Pum-Ti-A-Ta tìrol!

The purpose of this thread is to continue the production of the song into the phase of gathering all our singers and getting recording done. This will be the final phase before editing and publishing this song, which will hopefully become our latest and greatest piece showing off the Na'vi language and our great community.

For those (few) who don't know, this song is to be a parody of the Discovery Channel ad seen here:

The World Is Just Awesome

First off, the schedule of things left to do. If this project has taught me anything so far, this is totally subject to change:

Recording Completed - The 26th of July
Music Video Compiled and Edited - The 10th of August
Music Video Published - The 14th of August

Now, the 2nd post contains everything you'll need to know about the song. The rest of this post is everything that you guys have to do as a singer/contributor.

To be a contributor all you have to do is have a decent quality computer microphone and be able to record singing without much background noise. Also, having a camera that can record video could help.

The song will be a video similar to the ad, it will have an intro, it will have singing with video of various scenes to match the lyrics, and it will end in a similar fashion. A sample of how the song should be sung is in the 2nd post. What you need to do is record yourself singing the song with as little background noise and in the highest quality that you can. Save this recording as an mp3 file and upload it to the gallery here: http://forum.learnnavi.org/mgallery/?sa=post;album=63

That's it, you're done! Feel free to submit multiple times.

Also, if you want, and if you have a video camera, you can record video segments for use in the final clip.

For tips and tricks on how to get the most out of your microphone see this thread: http://forum.learnnavi.org/audio/how-to-record-spoken-navi-dialog-(and-ther-useful-audio-links)

The next posts have details about the songs as well as other details you should be aware of. If you are wondering, the thread of the first phase of this songs production is here: http://forum.learnnavi.org/your-projects-other-resources/boon-de-yada-song/

Song Details:

Overall idea for how this song will go is something like this:

Music and vocals pitch/tempo will be the same as the original. We'll have a funny skit, in English, at the beginning of two people talking about the movie Avatar that goes something like this (subject to change, submit an intro idea if you want):

Person 1: "You know, I love that movie Avatar, I just can't get it out of my head! It's such a beautiful world."
Person 2: "Yeah, me too. Though, you know, that movie made me realize how much I love the world we have right here. There's so many amazing things all around us."
Person 1: "Hah, that sounds like an intro to that Discovery Channel ad, the one that goes "I love the whole world...""
Person 2: "You know, we should totally combine the two, lets show everyone how amazing the world is, but let's do it in Na'vi!"
Person 1: "Hah! Okay, I'll start..." [music and first line in Na'vi]
(Subtitles will be done similar to the movie, yellow papyrus font overlaying the video)

Just want to mention here that Payoang has done an amazing job arranging the music and creating the sheet music.
IRAYO MA TSMUKAN!

I just noticed something, you have kye'ung. It should be keye'ung. Sorry! :(

I am definitely hoping to be a part of this project, as well!!! I was the first to post lyrics, you all should know!!! xD

Whoops, fixed on my segment but I can't edit the image.

Darn, that messes up the syllables but not too badly, "keye-" kind of blends into one syllable.

Maweyatan

Yeah, I'm sorry. I should have noticed it before... :-\

When should I start filming? Or are you going to give out lines to people?

~Maweyatan new rivol fìtìrol!

Everyone can start filming whenever they want. I would recommend people hold off for a few days whilst I record some tips for pronouncing the Na'vi correctly and recording an example of the song but that's not a requirement at all. If you feel you're good to go as is then have at it. Just be aware that we're going to try to make this as perfect as possible so don't be surprised if we pick apart your pronunciation or whatever. That's not to say that beginners can't participate or anything.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Most important thing here is to have fun and I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. Record away oeyä tsmukan sì tsmuke!

Maweyatan

Are we to record the whole song, and you pick out the favorite parts?

I answer all these questions above. But since I figure this will be a common one I'll answer it.

The idea is for you to record each segment separately but you may do every single segment if you wish. If there is one that stands out from all the rest I will pick that one. However, if there are a lot of great submissions for a segment then I will leave it up to a community vote which of them gets used.

If you haven't make sure you read everything I wrote in the first 3 posts. I know it's a lot but it will make sure that everyone is on the same page.

Oh, I have read the posts, I must've just skipped over that part.   :-\
I will definitely record some of these lines. xD

Also, the first line seems to be out of place. Isn't the rhythm supposed to be 5 syllables, 6 syllables, etc.? There's one extra syllable in the first line. I swear I should've seen these earlier. Maybe just get rid of the "u" on "oeru", because it would still mean the same thing. Same with the line "Lu yawne oeru txon" Just get rid of the "u".

Maweyatan

I think for the line: "lu yawne fìlì'fya" LearnNa'viyä logo should be shown.  ;D

Bah, I thought I had fixed that. You are correct, I have fixed it in the segment list (again, not fixed in the sheet music posted by Payoang).

I was going to save the LearnNavi logo for the end (since jumping from a video of live action, to a logo, and back again would look weird), but I figure we can do something with the language like show someone with a LN.org shirt or reading LN.org or something. I leave such things up to you guys though.

Payoang

Lyrics changed and re-uploaded. Full sheet music slightly revised too, for the curious :)

I didn't mean show just the logo, I meant have someone record themselves with the logo near them or maybe they could have a sign saying "forum.learnnavi.org" and be pointing at it. xD Shirt idea works, too! ;D

ma Payoang, These lyrics are still the same: "lu yawne oeru taw" and "lu yawne oeru txon". oeru txoa livu, ma nawma toruk makto. It may be that the file has not yet changed itself, but I still see those lines. "lu yawne oer taw" and "lu yawne oer txon" are what they should be. Again, I'm sorry!  :-\

I always liked those ads  ;D
in fact I was just thinking about that when I found this thread :D

I'm not much of a rolyu, but if it's needed or if you guys think it would soundgood, I could record a simple bass line for backing  :)
just a bit of input, kìyevame ulte Eywa ayngahu  :)

We could always use a "Pum-Ti-A-Ta, Pum-Ti-A-Ta, Pum-Ti-A-Ta, Pum-Ti-A-Ta, Pum-Ti-A-Ta" for the background chorus at the end. That said, the song is very simple and designed so that even those with the most limited singing ability can manage. Don't feel like you have to a be a world class opera singer to participate.
