Guys, I admire your enthusiam but isn't it really a bit too early for a project like this?  :P

I mean, we can't even say "That is the question", because we don't have a word for "question". Hehe.

kewnya txamew'itan

oh yeah, we certainly can't get anywhere near all of it done yet but we can get a surprisingly large amount done.

And what about:

lu fu ke lu a tìpawm lu.

How's that for "to be or not to be, that is the question", an ask is sort of the same as a question (and in Spanish is the same, preguntar (to ask, pregunta (question)) and is the best we've got for now.

I read your sentence as something like: "Be or not the askingly be is."

:D

("The askingly be" since I interpret the "a" in your sentence to mark "tìpawn" - the asking - as an adjective modifying the second "lu". Or what did you mean by the "a"?)

Cheers!

the best i could come up with at the moment was something like this:

that     is the question
Tsa'u l(evidentially infix, when it is made^^)u srak?
meaning: (that/that thing) is(evidentially)   ?

but anyway, the whole point with the project (apart from the actual translation) is for all of us to use the Na'Vi we have, and try to find the best possible ways to translate a given line (in this case always from Hamlet^^), so that we all may become more fluent in Na'Vi :)

hmmm until the evidential form it is made, we can always give it a go with the infix uy, in order to give is a bit of formality :P
(though it would not be the same ... might actually destroy the whole idea with the sentence and make it into complete gibberish...
but anyway ^^)

It's a good attempt. I'm not trying to be discouraging!  :)

And thanks for teaching me about the "a".

Would it perhaps be possible to use it like this? "It is good that you're here with me".

You've dropped the "it is" before the good so a lu might be needed or you might be able to drop it in Na'vi too. For now, it's probably best to leave it in.

As for the names, here we go :)

Yorick: Through various alternations (Jørg, Jørgen, Jürgen) it is related to the name George. That's developed from the Greek name Γεωργιος (Georgios) which was derived from the Greek word γεωργος (georgos) meaning "farmer, earthworker", itself derived from the elements γη (ge) "earth" and εργον (ergon) "work".

Cornelius: Roman family name which possibly derives from the Latin element cornu "horn".

As for Polonius, the closest I could find was Paulinus. I don't know if that's related, but Paulinus is derived from the Roman family name Paulus, which meant "small" or "humble" in Latin.

I know it's a little fuzzy but I hope this helps. My source is http://www.behindthename.com

@kawng mungeyu: Thanks for explaining the a, and teaching me another phrase to annoy my friends with :)

kewnya txamew'itan

Thanks for the Yorrick info, the only stuff I could find was how shakespeare was thought to have got to it which was as a Danishman (-ick) of yore. Irayo.

Polonius seems to mean of Poland, so until we get names for places I think we're going to have to hold off on him although we could use Paulinus.

Yeah, just use a placeholder or something for now. I'm sure we'll have a lot of those anyway. But, I can't seem to find the wave... help, please?

The wave's private, if you give me your wave address I'll add you.

For now we're sticking to English names and stage directions, just for ease of writing.
