Kaltxi frapo!

I have just written the first draft of a Na'vi Learning Guide which i would like feedback on (if possible)

It is written primarily for those who have had extremely little to no knowledge of Na'vi, but I would also be happy if more experienced users would like to read through to see if my guide makes sense.

All feedback very much appreciated.

The document is in a PDF, and appears long winded, but this is due to me writing it as a Step-by-Step guide. You will see if you read it

Well, that's all i have to say about it, i hope it's useful.

*EDIT*

I have taken tìkawngä mungeyu's exceptionally handy advice (txan irayo ma smukan) and have edited the PDF. Version 1.1 is now in the link.

Here's the link to it: http://www.mediafire.com/file/00zntuyingn/Topic One - Kaltxi.pdf

*EDIT*

Another quick edit, I know someone wanted a link to the PDF on a different hosting site, so I put it up on GoogleDocs as well.
https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B4tx0JR-V865ZDQ2Mjg3N2UtODZhYS00NWJmLWJkYTAtYmI3ZDliZjBiZjFk&hl=en

In the meantime, A quick update on the next section: It's coming soon. :D

Kaltxi ma tsmuk.
i have read about half so far and will continue reading later in the day, but i am a beginner, i have been learning a couple of days, and within a minute of reading, this guide clarified so many things for me. For example today, i was wondering what -l and -ti were as before i had just accepted it. One question it did not answer was the nga<ru> but i am guessing that would be in a previous chapter maybe as it says something along the lines of "you should already know.
could you clarify this for me?
I also think that it is absoloutly perfect not just for beginners but for people struggling with the technical language of things.
Irayo!

Good to hear this is helping!

As this is a draft, this was actually going to go after some other worksheets that are in production. This was a test of teaching Topic-Based vocab etc, the ones in production are grammar related.

For now, i can tell you that the -ru suffix is the Dative suffix, and more info on this can be found in the link below for now.

Anyway, txan irayo for your kind words, and if you have any other feedback then please don't hesitate to message me!

I want to thank you for this as I am needing everything i can get my hands on. This walkthrough you have created is amazing for me as im only a beginner also. All these worksheets are simple but really effective to understand the basics, maybe in time you will do some more i hope? this is really helping me. :)

Hi

I am downloading it. Whatever it is I applaud you already. Can you host it on google docs? My eyes were stunned by all of the junk on that web page (not your junk--the site junk). Google docs is free and it might help you get more actual downloads. But this is **just** a thought. Okay, I am eager to look at it now.

Please keep up with this. You know how dedicated I am to helping the **very beginners**.

EDIT: Okay, this looks really good. I like the way you incorporated my disclaimer--yes yes--that should keep you safe (legally--we hope) for the time. As a professional (published) author, here is my advice. Worry about heavy editing later. Just keep creating. To my professional eye, it needs a lot of work, but that doesn't mean that it is not helpful and usable "as it is right now." I think you should keep expanding on this. I am revamping my "Easy Way to Learn Na'vi Fun Activity book" and I think your book would work well side by side. You cover points I am not working on at all. I like the clarity with which you explain things--that is far more important than formatting at this moment. You are seriously on to something and if you need my help, let me know--but I think you have this well in hand and don;t need anyone nosing in on your project.

I want to see your updates. This looks to be a promising venture. Irayo! I realize this is a LOT of work, and it involves great personal sacrifice. I commend you on that, and on your passion to helping others. THAT is why I am pledging my support. Okay, enough of my yapping. This is good stuff.
2022 update: Working on the new astrology book. "How to read tarot" books are on Amazon, if you are into that sort of thing.
Okay, so the old podcast is here: https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/radioavatar It was goofy fun that ended too soon, but we had creative people. I hope we can get a new gang together (interested? PM me, let's make some magic!)
(Very old, outdated) Na'vi FUN activity book is here: But what are you doing? Let me know! :)

Wow, txan irayo indeed! I figured to steal your disclaimer covers my txim for now at least, but cheers for liking my idea. I find it easier to learn when I am taught step-by-step, and I didn't know if anyone else did but I figured it was worth a shot. As for Google Docs, will it host PDFs? I like PDFs as they look cleaner and slightly more professional.

In terms of help, any and all is greatly appreciated. It was your stuff that inspired me to give it a shot, so I'm all ears if you want to help or give advice.

QuoteTo my professional eye, it needs a lot of work

Hehe, just joking :P

I'm using MS Word. I'm pretty sure you griped over this before too..... (something about you wanting to use Quark or something :P)

But as for now, I am working on more worksheets as we speak, and hopefully they will remain as clear as possible for the beginners and tawtute.

Txan irayo for your words and your help, I can't wait to see the your revamped workbook!

Yeah, Google docs are perfect for PDFs because you just make everything on your computer and upload them (remember to change permissions so that you are "sharing with everyone," and get the "link to invite" and paste THAT link in the forum thread). The first time it will take about 3-5 minutes to figure it out (unless you are smarter than I am :) ) and after that it is a 30-second "click click click" process.

Because you are uploading PDFs, google doesn't reformat them. you are just using google as a free host (shh! Let's keep that part a secret ;) )

It really does make it easier on you--and on the reader. Take a look at my activity book (the thread link is in my signature line). When you click on the link it instantly takes you to the PDF online, and the download link is right there, or you can read it instantly. I think this would work for your project, as it would make access so much easier.

Irayo!

This really helped me out alot, as i found myself with piles of learning material, but i didn't know exacly 'where' to start. That's where your walktrough jumped in.
Thanks alot  :D

PS : PHEW! This is quite hard work huh? Well, no-one ever said this would be easy, and Rome
was never built in a day. Or something like that. I don't know. Who cares.
WE ARE HERE FOR SOME NA'VI BABY.

YAY! Now I've finally been able to download it and take a butchers.

Looks good actually. I'd imagine what you've covered there and the style you've used could be very useful for new learners. I would think people would learn a lot from that doc, and I'll be looking forward to seeing what else you develop in the near future.

Yes, between this and Dusty's document, I think we have a great set of beginning learners tools. Paired up with the language tool, and then moving to the more advanced worksheet documents, we've really put together a great collection of hands on learning tools. Great job on this, I hope you produce more bits to help people.

Very nice, please keep it up, it taught me some things :)

Cheers! That's much appreciated. Is it the way I format it?

I'm just trying to figure out the best way to set it out. Thanks anyway though :P

PS: A quick update: The next worksheet set SHOULD be coming out sometime next week. I have currently been snowed under at school at the moment (For any of you doing the International Baccalaureate, you will know how much work I have been doing considering my Theory of Knowledge Essay, my Extended Essay and my Business and Management Coursework is all due tomorrow :S)

HOWEVER, I do have next week off for a "Chinese New Year" break and as such I will have time to write some new worksheets! (YAAAAAY!)

After those there may be a break, as I will be sitting my Exams just after Easter. After that though, expect a hell of a lot of worksheets. Possibly enough to rival Kaltxi Palulukan's AMAZING Workbook. ( A little link here)

AAANYWAY, It's best I let you get back to your learning of Na'vi :D

Txan irayo to all who have downloaded and left comments, they are extremely useful. ayngenga lu txantslusam indeed. :D

yes i think it is the format, more specifically i like the complete breakdown and explination of all the parts, i guess i cant put my finger on any one or two things, its just the whole thing i like it and am looking forward to more
also i saw most everywhere bits of humor with the explinations, (least i saw it as humor) and i like the lighter mood it gives.

If I can ask one thing of you, it is only that you put my work to shame with your awesomeness. After all, I have to learn Na'vi too!

How about... (thinking) A step-by-step guide to Learning Na-vi---For the Complete Beginner (Volume 1 of course) by professor Atoki Atanyä

8)

Seriously! If you run out of ideas, just go through what I have done and adapt it to YOUR needs. Mad libs, letter fill-ins word substitution (this is a big one that gets people thinking in sentences and phrases), build-a-phrase, word searches. The three main criteria I worked with were word usage. word comprehension, and word recognition. I stayed tightly focused for the most part on "short words." If I ever expanded, I would go to 6, 7, and 8 letter words, with a heavy emphasis on grammar and how root words can be built upon. But I have laid out several styles of learning. And I certainly did not invent these. i got them from other sources--so have at it. make a fun book that people will tell their friends about--and then give it a welcoming title and a happy cover.
