That's just a part that bothers me a bit - it was in the script, but that generally hasn't been considered canon. Grace said there was no word, but that doesn't mean there is no concept of something.

I suppose I had the numerous treaties the US government made with various Native American tribes who definitely had words for lying, and yet always trusted that the leaders of the white people wouldn't lie about something so important, in my mind.  After many instances of these treaties being broken, the tribes who were still free in their own territory ceased to be so trusting, but it took a lot of abuses to overcome the conviction that no enemy, no matter how heinous, could be so dishonorable as to lie in a peace agreement.
