Kaltxi,

Need some clarification on a couple of pronounciations.

First off the prefix for "you" - "Nga-", would that be pronounced as "Nnah"?

And how is the word for "guide" - "fyawìntxu" broken down? eg - "brother" or "Tsumakan" is broken down to "su-ma-kaan".

Irayo.

First off, Nga is not a prefix. It is a word. It is pronounced Nga, as if you said sting+a

"brother" is "tsmukan", and is broken down "tsmu-kan"

"guide" would be broken down (I think) as "fyaw-ìn-txu"
"You're not in Kansas anymore. You're on Pandora, Ladies and Gentlemen." - Colonel Quaritch

My mistake for calling nga a prefix, as for the pronounciation then - The sound would be similar to "inah" correct?

nonono when pronouncing the ng sound its like when your saying the end of sing.

Try pronouncing ang ang ang ang over and over again to get the hang of it.

Heh, I was going to suggest this same thing... It must be something that gets tossed around.

But yeah, if you say "ang ang ang" over and over, you'll eventually start saying "nga nga nga."  Once you have an idea of how it sounds, it should be easy to pick up.

For guide, looking at the root word will help.

Guide = way-show
fya-wìntxu

Once it's broken out like that, there's only one way you can go from there given Na'vi phonetics.

fya-wìn-txu

No, very much no. It is a common mistake for native English speakers to but a vowel before consonant initial ngs but that is wrong. Ng is the same sound as the ng in sing, just at the start of a syllable, to learn it, I would do as Nìwotxkrr suggests.

As for fyawìtxu, it seems to be divided up fya.wìn.txu.
