Since not everyone (self included) is that au fait with the phonetic alphabet, perhaps it would be a good idea to keep a running collection of useful phrases with phonetic (i.e. spelled) pronunciations?

Like if I were to describe how to say my username, it would be written like this:

eowynne
ay-oh-win

Any thoughts?

I am also having a bit of a problem figuring out where the syllable boundaries go. My impression is that your name is four syllables

eowynne
ay-oh-win-ne

In this instance I assume the 'y' count as a vowel. But I could be wrong  :)

No i think you're right, syllables can only be as long as Two consonants, a vowel, and a consonant,

but at the same time, there needs to be a break somewhere because I don't think you can ever have four consonants in a row, and remember y is considered a consonant.

You either have to break it in two or add a glottal stop somewhere ..

I read that a word can have as many syllables as it wants but that each letter stands for a sound I guess unless something connects it so what do you mean by breaking it? I also thought that the name had four syllables because if every letter stands for a sound and e is always lax it would appear that way
