tell me how it comes out. i haven't touched mine in a week. There's a big crack in it that really pissed me off when i found it but i think i can get around it by using a japanese bow making technique.

I have the bark all scraped off, just need the bumps shaved down and the grooves in the end done. I chose a thing branch, so it won't be hard for me. Just need to figure out the string and make sure it doesn't break when I pull, because I had to tap the branch for it to fall out of the tree.

I think there are some skills that everyone should know at least the basics of, regardless of position within the tribe. I like to think of it as a "skill tree" (RPG nerd, I know), where a few skills make up the trunk and all others branch off from the basics. Those basics (in my list) are:

Food gathering (hunter/tracker/fisher/trapper/vegetables, at least two of these must be known)
Building shelters
Building and lighting fires

These are absolutely necessary, without them you won't survive, alone or as a group. Hungry, wet and cold people are grumpy people, covering these basics saves a LOT of arguments and energy which can be put to much better use Connected to these basic skills are different crafts that are very useful:

Making baskets and other containers
Curing leather and making clothes
Cooking and food preservation
Crafting bows and arrows/atl-atl and darts/harpoons/traps/fishing hooks/nets
Basic medicinal herblore
Basic fire preservation
Making cordage and rope

Knowing one or two of these crafts will make you very valuable as an individual in any tribal community, for example a hunter who can't repair or make his own weapons will be at a loss in a bad situation. After this step there's an almost infinite number of specialisations, like:

Pottery
Various leathercrafts
Woodworking
Horn- and bonecarving
Stoneknapping
Weaving

And many more that I can't think of atm. Anyway, my point on the matter (finally!) is this; it's not really important to have jobs as such, since limiting oneself to only one or two crafts or skills ("hunter", "weaver", "musician") will be practically impossible. It's not that easy. Try giving a hand in as much as possible, and see within time what you're good at and what you like doing. The beginning will be the hardest period most of you have ever faced (physically and perhaps mentally as well). Once you have shelters and fireplaces up, know how the game moves and where the plants grow, then you can start relaxing and move on to more advanced crafting and arts.

I still stand by my opinion that you can't move anywhere without having at least basic knowledge on how to survive in the wilds the way that this tribe intends to. But I abide by the mods' decisions.

A long time ago I made a list of everything people need to come
here is the list
basic science (up to grade 10 grade the high the better.)
-basic hunting or fishing (just have to know a bit about these done it a few times ither one)
-basic wood working (or a tech class)
-basic sowing or weaving (just need to know how to do it generaly)
-basic food preperation (learn to cook its not hard)
-basic medical knowledge (first aid certificat)
-basic knowledge of common edible and useful plants (just learn a few common ones)
-extensive knowledge of wilderness survival (read the SAS survial guide its really good)
