It is maybe that I am signing out of RLNT, I see this project that this can fail, I am a little unsure if this is the right thing to buy land from strangers, is that a good idea? I am a little unsure of that, it can be possible that we can be fooled.

What you all other think? Is it the right thing to buy land from strangers?

Look at this, we need to think, before we something stupid

I have already defended here I was not for buy land. Two main reasons indeed :

- Far too expensive
- May not be adapted for us or we can indeed have bad surprises.

I am for taking a territory that is not owned by anyone, which also allows huge spaces. This is somehow allowed in the US and in many places where the areas are big enough and the population density very low.

We also need to organize meeting, like Blue Moon is doing to organize this stuff. there has never been this here. I am also still maintain the site and try to complete it in my free time. It would go quicker if I had help.

Is that true that we kan just take over land? In the U.S? I like the sound of that ;) :)

Well, I do not really know, I am not sure. In France, it is possible in Guyana (only "big territory" where the land is not totally divided), and you need to tell the authorities before as I have seen once.

PLEASE, do NOT try that in the State of Texas. The land may LOOK desolate once you get into the "brown" Texas, but it is ALL owned, and in this State you can be LEGALLY SHOT for trespassing. Most of the land that "appears" to be "deserted" is owned by either Cattle Ranchers who take a VERY dim view of people on their land, or the University of Texas, or the Railroad, BOTH of which will have you arrested.
The days of just "squatting" on someone's land ended when I was a young teenager. I may not be able to speak with Authority about some of the other states, but I live in Texas, and I know what the rules are here.

Fine, I thought there were parts that were not owned. It also depends on the legislation. Of course it is not that evident. And actually, I know about this no trespassing thing in Texas and shooting. There are very deep parts of France where this is also valid.

A precise check of the legislation is to be done depending on where we can go, since penalties could also be applied on national land. But what is sure is that I see no advantage on buying a little piece of land with many other lands around where we would not possibly be able to go anyway.

I do not pretend to know everything about this stuff as well.  ;)

Unfortunately this is true, I live up north in Dumas and you can't find decent land without barbed wire surrounding it. I know 1 place where this doesn't happen, and it's our runoff ditch on the edge of town.

I don't think we'll ever be able to buy land, because it'd take some decades to pay of millions of dollars, and your grandkids might be paying it off to the owner's grandkids, which wouldn't be helpful in a 'free' community

But that's gonna happen anyway in the US. It's called the National Debt and I think our children's children's children will be paying today's debt off.

Most American states have a common law known as 'adverse possession'.  It creates controversial situations by its very nature, but it IS possible to gain possession of land for very little money.  You would have to research your state's laws very well so that you knew what you were doing, as this man apparently did in Texas: How to get a McMansion for $16.  And by the way, I am not advocating this, but mentioning it by way of curiosity.

Then we need to find a place in U.S who has a very good climate
Maybe Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Texas or Florida

Seze Mune

Yes, please do your research on climate. IIRC, all those states you mention are subject to tornadoes and hurricanes. But hey, what are the chances?  ;)

And the East coast has troubles with hurricanes, that is also a serious problem, but only Florida, as I mentioned

I'm going to search all the states in USA, but finding a place, is Hawaii included in this?

I don't understand your comment about Florida, sorry.  Only Florida what? Has hurricanes?

You might want to check out The Tornadoes of 2011.

Okay, the whole East Coast has hurricanes, I don't know if a hurricane can get in the Mexico Gulf
I'm not talking about tornadoes here now

U.S has aslo volcanoes, I am searching on them too.

We have for example the stratovolcano Mount Rainer in state of Washington, it is an active volcano, and we have also the gigantic supervolcano Yellowstone

But Yellowstone is very little active, it has eruptions in a very loooooooooooong period

Remember we don't necessarily only have the US as possibilities. There are other fairly transparent countries with proper climates.

Here I live, in Norway is a very good climate, maybe a little wet climate, the summer is great, perfect temperatures, but sometimes it can be really wet, like now in this time, is it starting.
It's a beautiful country I live in

Look at these pictures I took today, it shows how wet the climate is, just now in April

Tsmuktengan

What are the temperature ranges across the seasons? It seems extremely cold in some seasons.

It's almost the same across the entire Norway, I live in Nordland County, 3rd northern County

Here's the climate of Norway:

The southern and western parts of Norway experience more precipitation and have milder winters than the southeastern part. The lowlands around Oslo have the warmest and sunniest summers but also cold weather and snow in wintertime (especially inland).
Because of Norway's high latitude, there are large seasonal variations in daylight. From late May to late July, the sun never completely descends beneath the horizon in areas north of the Arctic Circle (hence Norway's description as the "Land of the Midnight Sun"), and the rest of the country experiences up to 20 hours of daylight per day. Conversely, from late November to late January, the sun never rises above the horizon in the north, and daylight hours are very short in the rest of the country.

So this is a very unique country, I am in the part where in the summer, the Sun is always above the horizon, and on the winter, the Sun never rises over the horizon

It is a reason why it was like this on the pictures, the weather has been damn too cold this year, it wasn't like this last year or other years as far as I can remember

The average temperature are 1.5 to 2.0 degrees celsius lower this year than the normal average temperature

We have had snow till 1st of june, and a few days ago it was hail, and the snow is still up in the mountains, it's very unnormal for us
But currently now the climate and the weather is beautiful :)

So this year, has been one of the coldest years in over 20 years
