Just a Question...
« on: December 21, 2011, 09:49:47 pm »
So we all know that the tribe is very slow as compared to the past year, and in fact I've stopped taking headcount when the committed level went from the best numbers to zero. (Well, I was "1", but I can't want to be committed to a project I fear will fail, unfortunately) So, the members in the tribe have a circle of members that are there and have been there, regardless of post statuses due to occurring events, and a ring of members that rotate out every so often. Well, because I can't come to be committed, I can't come to becoming one to do research or keep up with it, instead I'm feeling that I'd want to take Na'vin's path, and just "go against the system", so to say, and revert to the natural life with hopes of succeeding in an actual survivalist situation, as opposed to an organized survivalist situation. So, by posting, who would want to continue research for the organized tribe lifestyle, or just drop out of civilization and continue life the way you want to, both for the main reason of living life the way it was meant to be before we had stuff handed to us (contradictory I post this on the internet, but I'd never technically met any of you any other way)?

Judging by how slow things have been going the last ½ year or so, I'm not surprised people are thinking about this. And it sounds very tempting, I have to admit.

But I always have and always will be a planner, almost a perfectionist, I can't go out and do something without real research, without a strong "foundation" to stand on, so to speak.
And to just buy a small patch of land and live in a tent is not what I want to do (not long term, anyway), I want a huge patch of land (preferably an island :() with simple houses, and that is going to cost *money*.
That - money - is the huge obstacle.

Also, I have my birds, and unless I'm prepared to let them go (one has been with me since I was twelve) ...that just makes it harder. At least in a more village type-setting with more money in our/my pockets, I could build them aviaries, but not in a more simple "do it right now" setting.

I am feeling very frustrated, with how slow things are going.

The biggest obstacle is money and then resources. This is why I do not consider islands as a good idea : isolated, too expensive, and would be probably too small.

In several areas on continents, you may not need to buy an expensive patch of land to be able to travel through very large territories and enjoy many various resources. Dropping the islands and focus and continental lands with other indicators would simplify the issue.
