So we decided that we wanted a group of people leading different area's e.g. research, morale etc. So now we have to decided what postions that we think there should be, again at this time there is no need to put names forward, just roles.

So far idenitfied ledership postions include:

Research,
Skills (like survival etc)
Anthropology
Traditions and laws
Morale and membership (e.g. maybe getting the word out to other parts of the forum or beyond to increase mebership)
General overseeing (i.e. making sure the board is running smoothly)

That seems quite prudent to me, but to keep it fair, I will leave this thread open for two days so feel free to make suggestions for the list and feel free to comment about positions that are already up e.g. if you think they are irrelevant ^_^

Anthropology is the only one that I disagree with, just because I do not see the purpose. Other than that, I am totally for that list of yours, Fnua.

Yeah, I don't much like the Anthropology, either. Na'viology maybe, but don't really agree with it. Military's probably going to take care of that for us. -.-'

Anthropology is just the study of humans.  So in this case it would be someone studying the Na'vi (kinda like Eana said) or the people who where originally Native to that area.  Someone who would be an expert on their ways of survival.

What about actual leadership positions in the Tribe itself?  Like once it's set up?  Who will lead things like Hunting, Gathering, Sewing, Cooking et cetera?  Or are those positions to be decided later?

Those who are the best at it lead?
Failure is the mother of success.
Soon, we will no longer be the leaves on the wind, but the wind itself.
You don't have to be a scholar to be a leader.
Join the real life Na'vi tribe here  (And yes, it will be a real tribe in the real world, NOT a role play tribe!)

Definitely. We really have no idea who will be best and there's nothing to gain deciding those now.

Edit: Previously I've suggested we could benefit greatly by studying existing cultures similar to ours (hence anthropology) and that this could help us determine not only laws and traditions but it lets us see what our needs will be once "out there".

In the location research Tonbogiri has been looking at tropical tribes to see establish what conditions we might thrive under, it has already highlighted the importance of sufficient land and the impact of deforestation. Anthropology is important as a window into our future needs, the ability to study those who live as we hope to is a vital resource we should not neglect.

As I said, the government will most likely be tracking us and studying us, so we can be 'rescued' in case of a small tidal wave.

I am willing to help in any way possible.  I want to be an Anthropologist (granted a Forensic one) when I go to school (next year I'll start my under-grad :D ) so i'm more than willing to help in that department.  But I agree with 'Eylan.  IT is something that should be kept on the list.

Eana, we're not talking about others studying ourselves, it would mean studying similar groups. Land requirement is a good example of something we could establish this way that would be difficult near impossible otherwise, say there is a tribe in a tropical rainforest using x amount of land, they have good quality of life, minimal disease etc. that gives us a precise idea of what we need. (Obviously that would be in the case of living in a tropical rainforest, desert would be totally different ;))

...It's a joke.

Of course, overtime we probably would be studying ourselves, but then it might get to the point where it really won't matter that much. So, it's probably going to be in among a few members, but most likely not everyone.

...Hahaha! I get it.

But I still think that research, skills, and Traditions would all cover that between them anyway without the need for an Anthropological station being made. Wouldn't you agree?

(A side note-I'm 18 as of today! WOO!)

Oh, I see what you mean. We'll have enough done to where anthropology is covered without it being noticed...?

Tonbogiri

A good point. I still think it is a good idea to check out these other tribes anyway, as we might just find a perfect template.

That's what I was getting at and because this is all online it's very little effort to have someone working on that area separately. Anthropology could be a subsection of research if that makes sense, along with location. Because it's more specialized it would be helpful to have someone focusing on it.

Although it is covered by all the other areas that also means it has implications for the other areas, that is why it is useful but is unlikely to get done if we don't consider it now.
