I know, I did it again. Just last month I said I was going to be back from my approx. two month unannounced leave. Then, I set up the IRC server and almost immediately dissapeared again for about a month. :-\

I have several reasons for this:

  • With school starting this past June, it gradually became more and more difficult to even lurk here, let alone contribute in any signifigant way. Eventually it just became a "Eh, I'll post tomorrow when I have more time." thing, then, "Eh, I'll post eventually...", then eventually I stopped thinking about it.

  • Simple conflict of interest and culture. I was born and raised (so far) as a materialistic person. Although I've always been less materialistic than many, it's still a hard thing to give up.

  • Sort of a tie in with #2, questioning whether or not I really want to go through with all of this. Why wouldn't I want to go through with this? Two reasons: One, I would be leaving behind the few friends I've managed to keep through the changes in scenery over the years, and all of my family. And two, I've always been a severely technologically inclined person. To give up all --or most-- of what you've been used to, comfortable with, and interested most of your life I believe would make anybody question their decision to leave it behind.

  • And finally, questioning whether or not the tribe would work for me, or not. Whenever I thought about it; something that really bothered is that I am underage. I'm only 15! I can't even drive yet, let alone suddenly move to another country and leave modern society! Usually this wouldn't bother me, since I'm aware you all don't expect this to be set up and finalized for a while longer. But if things start moving quicker and get set up in the next year or two, I'd be left out. So I guess I thought "Why take the risk?" and distanced myself from you all. (I sometimes do this... I've never been very trusting, :( but I'm working on it, I promise!)

Anyway though, although I'm still sorting my life, I still want to help with this. And when push comes to shove, I'll decide whether or not I want to personally benefit from any efforts I put in by joining.

In short, (if you'll all allow it,) I'm back! And I will see this through to the end! :P
Also, sorry for the long post... I just felt it wouldn't work well if I didn't explain

Sounds pretty reasonable, I can't say I know what I'm going to do in the long run.The important thing is that you don't let anything impact on your life, even if that means we don't see you around here as often. I've also been far less active since term began, I can relate to that problem.
Great to see you feel confident in your decision after all that.

I have no idea where to aim. :(
I've been trying to work out what I should do since the end of last year.
Either Indie game authoring, or life in the tribe. Perhaps run away and live on a mountain. :o

Yeah, I'm trying not to let it, too much. I figure I'll just go with the flow, see what happens. :)

Or both! Aren't there still several ideas being thrown around involving an indie game studio for financing? (Or have I been gone so long I have no idea what's going on? Anyway though, I'd really look forward to that.)

Speaking of which, I had an idea for a freelance web development studio as well. I can imagine it'd be easier than game development, so we could spend more time with tribe-related affairs. I've done web development, and usually you can get around $5000-6000 per client for a good design & content. (Add more for hosting, etc.)

I can imagine that would probably solve any financing issues in the long run. But, I don't know, maybe not. Maybe I should make a thread about that at some point...

The game stuff is still being mentioned.
I prefer game programming to web, HTML irritates me, a ridiculous amount.

Same here, but people pay a lot for it. And HTML5 should relieve that irritation somewhat.
But maybe web design could just be something I personally do, if at all. I dunno.

You can write the website, and Eana, Txontaw and me will write the products! :P

That's true! Also, I have to ask, what languages do you plan to use for game dev? I could probably join in if it's okay.

3 people makes it easy. 2 people makes it a little easier. But for an idea I have, it'll be a 1 person deal, difficult. But don't worry, that's only my 1 current idea, I'm sure we can pull off something bigger.

I plan to do what I work on in English, we hope.

Well, if it's only 1-2 people, that's fine. I mean, if you can squeeze me in there, that'd be great. But, either way. Like I said, I think I can still provide some financial input with web development.

Actually I meant, what programming language would you plan on using? Although, good to know it'll be in English, at least I know I won't need to learn yet another language any time soon. ;D

Oh, yeah, THAT language [/fail]. I don't know, haven't gotten my full education on what I'll need.

Txonari

Lol :)

Ah, well, that's fine. I suppose you wouldn't (need to) know definitely until it's set up, anyway. (Maybe some great new language will be created by then, who know?)

My idea of the 'new language':

Car{
OnAnalogLeftFoward: 'Move Car Foward';
OnAnalogLeftBackward: 'Move Car Backward';
OnSquarePress: 'Destroy'
}
New York{
#Buildings: '350';
#Pedestrians: '#Buildings^3'
}

<VEHICLE CLASS="car"><LOCATION CLASS="New York">

Yeah, then in current language, it take like 3 months to even design the car.

Key'ìl Nekxetse

#13
I think a language built like that wouldn't be flexible enough for writing much more than simple games. That's closer to an engine.
I like Python and Java. But Haxe and C++ and various different languages are worth learning.

EDIT: Sorry, that didn't make much sense! I cleaned it up. :-[

I speak HTML and CSS, and I don't speak JS, C++, Flash Physics, or any language like that. So, if I went into designing currently, it'd be website designing.

I speak English. hrh And I suppose you could count Math, which I now do a lot of...
