That looks a lot like a Quena or a quenacho. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quena What do you think?
I've made a few of these out of PVC, they actually sound half decent. Unfortunately you can't really find any good bamboo here. It's quite easy to make to a reasonable standard so they'd be a good thing to have in a tribe, easy to replace if damaged, not like say, a piano ;D.

Be careful, as wood based instruments are damaged by extreme temperature and humidity.

We could for a time. What about sheet music? And what kinds of music would we bring? Averything we know, or sounds good? We would need to make sure we all have the same liturature if we were going to play together. I know we could write our own music, but what about the classics? My point is we can't just memorize everything like in Farenheit 451.

Heh lol, wouldn't really be worried about damage to it, it's not as if it would get to see the light of day if I left it behind. I would love a piano (I play too :))but I think that is getting into the realms of impossibility, maybe in the long run when the eco-village is set up. Could keep all instruments there for protection and just crack them out when we need them.

I think we can bring sheet music we are bringing books along so why not

Sheet music wouldn't be a problem at the start but it'd be far easier just to memorise any new music. Plenty of cultures pass on music that way and it works just fine.

Oh yeah, of course we can keep a record of it, I just mean it might not be practical to get out a sheet of music every time we play. It really depends on how our music develops, that's another exciting side to the tribe that we really can't predict. Can't wait  :).
