The good thing about cold is that if it gets really cold you can always put on more clothes. But when it gets too hot, there's no way to cope with it. Humidity has a lot to do with it too, I hate winter at the coast, wet cold is horrible. But dry cold like up in the mountains is no problem. -25C and northern lights all over the sky :D

We also dream of starting a global na'vi tribe. And changing our society's values. Defend nature. No-money economy. Unity, love and respect for all people.New spiritual way of living in harmony with the environment.

I'm sorry to be a total pescimist, but the fact is, with a population at the size it is, and specailization of certain tasks, it will be impossible(I've been told that nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it.  then I respond with, "your right, just so improbable you might as well not try.") to go to a "no-money economy".  The nly examples of these societies today are places that have little or no contact with the rest of the world(good for them) and are relativly small in size.  but to try and get people to go to a straight up barter system, things will not go so smoothly.
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea, I just don't think that its possible.

I would love to join the RLNC but again, my parents.

That's true. That's what I tell my mum when i complain about the heat here. Though most of the time, if I didn't mind too much about sweating, its not much of a problem.

Help preserve Nature.

Personaly I don't like the heat so I would like a more temperate region

Hi.
Sorry for beeing absent for a week, but I tried with another of our group to get our own forum running, so we do not depend on the avatar forums anymore and have more possibilities (and get more structured). Also we have as you obviously have the problem with location which leads to "heated" discussions.
Your definition of a clan sounds right - we're all a tribe and just different clans. Maybe it would even be possible to have a clan of the north and a clan of the south.
If interest in this project dwindles and members drop out, I think we should keep the possibility open to join though. I think, both groups will at some point shrink a little bit. But maybe it will still be good to start as two groups with own plans, so if a joining is happening, there are different resources and knowledge and ideas to come together.

So we should definitely have a forum or subforum to connect to each other and maybe other tribes (also non avatar primitivists).

I will start reading through your posts here, but there are incredibly many and I have to see how long it will take me to find at least the important ones ;)

Abotut the no-money economy - I think this is primarily for the tribe itself at first - interaction with outside sources of course has to follow their rules, but I support the idea of the "Venus Project" to establish a global resource based economy - this would be great, but admittedly a high goal.

I will just give some advice here and not participate in polls as I am involved with development of a sister clan of this one here which was founded independently. I believe however, we are one clan and we should stick together!

I think we should only combine tribes if numbers for both are running too low, mostly as since we have discussed it on separate forums we would have separate ideas of what should happen in the tribe.

I think a subforum would be a great way to share contact and there was some suggestion of creating sub forums, however this has not as yet taken off.

Agreed :)
'Itan Atxur : Just remember, NO idea is too crazy <3

Then everything changed ... I fell in love. I fell in love with the - with the forest, with the Omaticaya people... with you...
Don't thank! You don't thank for this! This is sad... VERY sad only!

For me, I like both heat and cold... I live in this lil bubble of really wacky weather in MD, so my body adapts really well.  Like, about 2 weeks ago it was looking like snow. And right now its upwards of 90 out.
We had two really big snow falls this winter [good targets for archery, btw] and it was still around until middle of march, lol! I think I saw some at the DMV when I was there last week.  And it was 80 out.  That's MD for you!! ^^

I know other people might have this, but does anyone get like... pains or anything when bad weather approaches?  I get terrible headaches.  Might be useful.

To the tribe and clans: I think this makes sense.  That we're all one big tribe, but we're different clans, with our own lil twist on the way we see and do things.
North and South does make a lot of sense. I know there will be more than one tribe. :]
As for global:... I WISH. We can try.

Please PM me if you are still interested in the real Na'vi tribe.

We will never be able to get the whole world to do this, oddly people like the city  :P

Yes - people like the city. I had a lengthy debate in the avatar forums on that. I personally get anxiety and feel self-destructive in them.

About tribes - actually I can't remember that the Na'Vi have tribes at all. It's all clans and then they all are the people....

We are moving our clan (virtually) to our own forum now - so I hope there will be more structure happening soon. Also, we'll see more clearly what our numbers are (as well as what our demographics are). I may create a subforum there, but I rather think that as your forum here exists longer and has more members this would be the better place. In that we could share common ideas, maybe even some things about our members (like excepts from the profiles) and the (at least for now) final decisions that have been made, like the laws and social rules of the clans, location, concepts regarding the village(s) or how much technology is used.

BTW - your forum here is really huge and I want to inform myself on your ideas and progress - can you hint me where to start with that? ;) I just started with the stickies...

I'll resurrect this old thread briefly just to let you guys know that we've begun working on a wiki for data collection connected to tribal living. So far it's pretty small, we're focusing on location and habitat data for now. You're all welcome to participate, there are templates with further instructions for both sections in the wiki, and more will come. Hope it is of use!

"We" are the members of the clan/tribe/group which started this thread :) We have no name yet, it's still being discussed... On this forum me and auroraglacialis are the "informal ambassadors", at least so far.

The wiki is to get a structure on all the info connected to this type of projects, not just for Avatar-associates but for any group or person who wants to bail out of modern society. Sharing is caring :P

Thank you so much for sharing this resource, it really is fantastic and will undoubtedly be of use to us!!! Will give karma to auroraglacialis as well :)

Thank you a lot and I hope this resource will be of help for both of our groups and maybe more to come. If you have suggestions about the Wiki, PM me. Currently, edits in the Wiki are allowed for everyone without login. If you want to have a login (to have a "about me page" or to allow your name to be attached to edits - the registration is coupled with our forum and I could not convince wikimedia to accept seperate registrations :(

If you find this Wiki idea useful, please consider putting it in a new thread and make it sticky or mention it in the location discussions. So hopefully more information will flow into it soon :)

I don't think so, it was more or less agreed that it would really be more of a kinda more of a sharing of information and helping each other out.
