It would be my bad luck...

you all do have to be careful with picking the country. cause if its foren then people not regularly introduced to it can get sick and possibly die...and i know no one wants that.

It's gonna be to someone no matter where we pick

we still have to try to avoid it in the least.

Perhaps I'm not understanding your point. How could the location be local for everyone?

pick a place that everyone could feel confy in, for example iv been to most of the states and haven't been sick once. first step into the Bahamas-BAM! i catch something. so it would meet requirements that the tribe needs, but its been visited by so meny people from around the globe, (not in the place just close to it), that people would be immune to it because its already been to where ever they live.

Busy week. I have neglected last week's update. Anyone want one or should I hold off until this Friday?

'Itan Atxur

It's your call, ma eylan. I'm fine with whatever you choose.

Yeah, but I'd prefer if there was still one even if it was a short one to just stay with the commitment. Once you skip one, you'll skip another. I'm not saying you will but in general that's what happens.

But like 'Itan said, its up to you. =)

Progress Update 4: 18-09-10 *New Moderators*
Placeholder for update. Technically I haven't missed any yet.  ;)
No significant progress made.

Progress Update 5: 25-09-10 *New Moderators*

Last week was so quiet I sneakily missed out the update.  :-[

The moderators (list in previous update) are now official, this should go a long way to maintaining good and consistent organization of the board.

The tribe has been moved out of "Fandom" and has its own section. Not a big deal but this was when it happened.

There has been some agreement to use Geraldo island as a 'case study' to establish what the prerequisites will be for immigration and to gain a better understanding of local laws. See: http://forum.learnnavi.org/official-tribe-matters/tribal-research-geraldo-island/45/

Progress Up to Now (What has been decided about the Tribe)
Location: Tropical - Subtropical climate (preference for sub.). Forest vegetation. Not Amazon or other super rainforests.
Considering temperate but only as a back up if sub tropics fail. Also some thoughts on private islands.
Tribe: To operate primarily as hunter gatherers, supplemented by small scale farming. Only self produced technology.
Eco Village: Electricity and permanent housing, permanent agriculture. Site for computers and medicine.
Government: Largely egalitarian although there will be one or more 'leaders' to coordinate day-to-day operations.

What's Next
Location: Geraldo Case Study Immigration laws, disease and parasites, Land requirements (game, vegetation, electricity)
Tribe: Finalize suitable technology level.
Eco Village: Decide on necessary technology, choose power generation method, building methods?
Government: Outline government and laws in tribe.

Overall, we are starting to bring everything together, expect to see a lot more 'real world' activity very soon. I have added the Geraldo case study/dry run as a new priority, that will really show what progress we have made.

Tsyal Maktoyu

Yay, the update's posted! :) Looks like everything is right on track. Looking forward to see what comes from the dry run. ;D

Progress Update 6: 06-10-10 *Project New Wings and IRC*

Apologies for the serious delay in posting. Abuse away.

We have engaged in relations with Project New Wings, an offshoot of Anonymous with similar goals regarding the creation of a new small-scale society. http://forum.learnnavi.org/official-tribe-matters/project-new-wings/ There has been some contact both ways and talk of sharing research.

The IRC server is up and running, see http://forum.learnnavi.org/official-tribe-matters/irc-server-(info-howto)/ for 'how-to' connect.

Progress Up to Now (What has been decided about the Tribe)
Location: Tropical - Subtropical climate (preference for sub.). Forest vegetation. Renewed interest in Australia.

Board Management Complete reorganisation/renaming of boards. Move posts.
'Eylan Ayikranä Complete next update on time.  ;)

Not bad progress this (actually last  ;D) week. There's been a good bit more work on immigration, even if the results have been mainly negative we're exploring the options.

If I had to say one thing it would be that we should pull our attention back to the Geraldo case study.
I think as it has become clear that it would be hard (maybe impossible)to settle there many have lost interest and want to move straight to researching an actual location, I think this is a problem. The study will enable us to gain experience so we don't make any first time/rookie mistakes when it come to the real thing. Think about it this way, for example: We don't want to be finalising our location and then piss off an agent because we didn't follow protocol (as we lacked experience) and set everything back until we find someone else. Remember, to the outside we look like madmen so everything has to run real smooth. It'd be easy not to take us seriously.

This update topic is very nice work. I wasn't here for quite some time and it's not in my options to read everything what you wrote in last... three months? :) But... Thank you. And keep working in this topic ;)

Progress Update 7: 20-10-10 *"Moving In" Dry Run*
Yeah, this is on-time ;D.

We have begun a sort of preparatory scenario that I am calling a "Moving In" dry run. For this scenario we assume: Geraldo has bee purchased, visas/citizenship are organised, and we have a reasonable base of members. We are asking "What do we need to 'move in' to our new home?". See: http://forum.learnnavi.org/official-tribe-matters/the-dry-run-lets-get-going!/msg335522/#new

Other than this, work continues on researching immigration laws.

All going well. Main focus for the upcoming week is the Dry Run, we need to get this done fast as it is a diversion from our longer-term priorities i.e. immigration. It will be valuable in that it sets up a base for the other areas of the tribe to work from, currently we really don't know what our problems are beyond immigration. With any luck this should highlight them and we can get people working on issues that aren't immigration, which would be nice for a change. ;)

Well, all at once it feels like activity has dropped 99%, I'm guessing due to school/college kicking in... Well, atleast there's time.
