I actually read the synopsis of the bill, it seems to be forcing all Americans to buy health insurance, and providing financial help for them to do so. So, I guess it'll be another few years before y'all can join the Canadian/UK/Swiss/etc free health care party :D

Illegal by the meaning of needing a license in future or generally illegal to catch any fish?

Please give me the low-down, irayo!

You already need a license to fish [legally].
The law would mostly wreak havoc on those people who fish for a living.  Won't stop most people from fishing, esp out in the sticks and stuffs.

Oh, I'm a woman, btw.  Not a guy.  I had some trouble with this posting, sorry if there was any confusion.

To quote my friend [who is a cop, a former Army Medic, and in my EMT class]: " Healthcare is NOT a right. If it is, the government cannot ration it. They must provide it, at whatever expense, to anyone, for any reason, at anytime. But this never was about health care, was it? It has always been about control of the people by the government. Congratulations, Obamabots - you may have voted the USA out of existence this time."

Its just ridiculous.  I think. If people wanted healthcare, they could go through the state like I do for my daughter.
Also, making the military and retirees buy additional insurance?  I don't think so.

Please PM me if you are still interested in the real Na'vi tribe.

That would get him a karma cookie from me if he was on the forum here... I take it he isn't?

Public healthcare is a great idea, if they can get it to work... Over here it seems to work(from my experience anyway, luckily haven't had to use it much) but this bill (from what I've gathered, haven't read through the whole thing admittedly) seems ludicrous...

I have a major problem agreeing with this statement! surely healthcare should be a right! its unfathomable that one of the most powerful countries in the world cant see the benefits of a system that works (And before you say stuff like the NHS doest work, it does, the only problem is that there a couple of billion pounds in debt and the labour goverment f*** it over, so that they could control everybody) yes it may be socialist but (here comes and good quote)

QuoteSocialism without capitalism turns to tyranny. Capitalism without socialism turns to barbarism
Im sorry but the sooner Americans realise the truth of a mixed economy, the better their world will become. In the meantime, their right-wing pundits should learn from the NHS, not mock it.

this is how i feel about it, i just think that only the middle class and rich getting the healthcare that they deserve is just not right.

I don't know too much about this bill but I don't want to be forced to buy health care. I also think the prices for most types of treatment are... extreme.

which is why a nation health service would be good ! then you don't need to pay for your health and if someone cant afford the insurance it doesnt matter because you have the service,

and if those people who are already paying for insurance don't want to use a FREE service then they can go private and fork out a bomb load of money for their treatment

Put like that it sounds legit to me. I'm sure there's so much more to it though.

Well, at least in Sweden you DO pay for healthcare, but through taxes. The insurance here only kicks in if you get too ill to work, and during the rampages of the current government you can't be sure to get anything even if you DO get ill. No system is flawless.
