Do you think the tribe should have it's own podcast or should it remain attached to the current podcast?

Kaltxì ma frapo ^_^

I have been talking with Kaltxì Palulukan about the tribe section of the podcast, for the amount of tribe stuff we could do in a podcast, we could realistically set up our own tribe podcast (can't go into details about content sorry), the main thing I want to know is whether or not you would like to see a tribe exclusive podcast (i.e. one that is solely about the tribe) or would you prefer that we continue to slot in to the occasional section of the current podcast? There are both potential pluses and minuses, the two most obvious that I can think of if we went it alone are:

1.) We could lose some listeners.
2.) We would be able to do a lot more on our own podcast that we couldn't otherwise do.

If we create our own, I would of course make sure that the people who listen to the main podcast know of the tribe one but of course they may not listen to it if they are not interested.

EDIT: This pole will run for 7 days, oh and feel free to post thoughts and comments about why you think what you do :)

I think maintaining a presence in the already site-wide popular pod-cast would be good for our publicity. if you were just like "hey check out this pod-cast", a lot of people just wouldn't but if in the middle of their normal pod-cast they get ear-raped (to use a crude metaphor ;D) by the tribe unexpectedly they just might develop an interest.

it might be worth doing a little bit in the main one and then making your own that is bigger that way the people who listen to the main one will hear the little bit and if they are interested check out the main Na'vi tribe one.

I agree with Tawtute akawng, i think that they should have minor updates in the main Learn Na'vi podcast about the tribe so that way we get a little publicity but we should have our own podcast so that we can flush out our own ideas in a Tribe only podcast.

I do think that we need a blog, though for the podcast, I see the advantage of staying with the larger one.

I'd say stay with the main one for more listeners, although there's the idea of setting up our own blog in addition to the section of the Avatar podcast

I had liked the idea of doing our own one with updates on the main podcast however I can't say right now how regular a slot we will get, atm it is likely we will get something like a slot every 2--->3 months.

In regard to losing listeners from the main podcast, I could (and would) ask KP to add a link and include info about the tribe podcast wherever he is putting up the main one so anyone listening to the main podcast will be aware of the tribe one. This combined with the occasional stint on the main podcast shoule be enougg to counter any potential listener losses :)

Yah obviously, that is something we would obviously never do and had decided that a long time ago :)

I like the idea of having something that we run ourselves, just cause that means that it is ours, you know what I mean?

That's what I think, it will give us so much more control over what we do with this, i have a rather nice plan laid out for it (that I can't post sorry :P) for the eventuality of having our own podcast. I am more than confident that we can output enough relevant information and keep it interesting for the listeners ;)

Are there enough people willing to do it tribe-exclusively to make up an entire podcast? Also, what would we get on the podcast that'd be any different than what we could read on the forums?

sezawte

Another thing we need to consider is that if we advertise (which is what the podcasts would be doing) we risk drawing media attention...  ???

I have a small team of people who are happy to work on the planning and organizing of the podcast however, we will be in need of volunteers to come on and do little segments on it, giving updates, opinions etc and if you would be happy to do this (you need a mic and a pc) please sign up HERE. Here is a sneaky preview of one of the things I would like to do, I would like two or more people to go away, research one location and we will have a live debate about it on air, the goal of this is not only to make a great listening experience but also to have the secondary effect of helping to speed up our location search, anyone who is willing to do this, please send me a pm, there are no plans to rush this so you will have plenty of time to prepare your arguments however you will not get to know the other person/s so you will not know what arguments they will put forward. This is all meant to be good fun so please don't worry about making mistakes, they will be edited out or we can run the whole thing as many times as it takes. Looking forward to hearing from you, Eywa nghau.

Also the media are already aware of the tribe or are about to find out (can't remember atm), this cannot be avoided but at least this way it is on our terms, we will not be broadcasting any information that could put the tribe at risk, as an example, although I plan to have an argument about loaction to show that we are serious, we will not be mentioning the actual location once it has been decided on.

We could update our podcasts at a slower rate but make every update an extensive one. This way we don't have to rush things just to meet deadlines (while risking the quality of the content) and at the same time have the benefit of providing a more complete podcast every time we do.

If say we merge with the AVATAR podcast, what we'll get probably is just a short amount of time for every podcast. We might not have the chance to deliver whatever we want to fully in one session. And if the AVATAR podcast is slow at updating, we'll suffer the consequences.

Help preserve Nature.

Fnua Atxkxe

If we stay we most likey will not even be in every podcast :o and it will probably remain confined to doing interviews. Having our own gives us so much more freedom and control over the content.
